Hey guys sorry for the lack of updates. I finally got her the past weekend but haven't had much time to work on her as I've been busy with work, prepping the Cayman for sale, and just life in general. I finally had the chance to wash her today and take her for a little spin. Wow the power this car has is just phenomenal, I haven't had the feeling of being pushed back in my seat for a long time. Car is completely stock and its just crazy fast for me. I don't think I'll need to add any power mods for now.
Some observations
-Its incredible how I haven't sat in a 996 turbo for almost 10 years but the interior/leather smells exactly like my old 996 turbo. Brought back nostalgic memories and just made me more excited to be back in a 996 turbo.
-After coming off of a S2000 and the 987 with a numeric racing shifter, the shifter in the 996 feels like I'm driving an old school bus. Luckily I have a numeric shifter from my Cayman going in very soon.
-Everyone says that the 996 interior feels dated but I definitely don't mind it compared to the 987. I actually think it complements the car well and don't see much advantage in the 997 or 987s.
-Looking through the service records it just boggles my mind how much these dealers/shops rape these poor owners on every visit. I calculated the total from the receipts and its almost at 20k. Simple things such as changing the fuel filter, spark plugs, and oil somehow got marked up to over 2k at the dealer. Makes me feel that my decision of giving up my turbo at 25 years old was the correct one.
Some plans for the car - Most likely just drive and enjoy it for awhile. Car definitely needs a completely detail at some point, paint is in overall good condition but could use some TLC. Possibly wheels and suspension in the near future as the suspension feels a little tired and honestly uninspiring. Rear spoiler hydraulics will have to be rebuilt, not sure if I'll just go GT2 decklid or rebuild just yet.
Some pictures of it just washed.

Nice score! I'm just ducking back in here for the first time since selling my '02 X50 several years ago. What a beast the 996TT was and still is. I have had two Porsches with less power since selling my TT, which is the direction I wanted to go, but sometimes I still miss that massive hit of torque from the X50. I know you'll love being back in it once it gets here!
I replaced mine with a 2015 911GTS I ordered right after they were released. Wonderful car but honestly it made the old 996 Turbo, which I had once thought was HUGE for a 911, look like a dainty little thing. And the 996 definitely still has so much more of an analog feel to it than the modern Carreras and Turbos (not necessarily the GT cars.) I'm on a GT4 now and I think it's a forever car, but like I said, sometimes I still miss that big WHUMP of torque pushing you in the small of the back.

Hey guys just to clear things up, the cayman js just an S and the badging was done by the previous owner. Not sure what he was thinking or trying to represent, but it never really bothered me so I just left it.
Update on the car, I just changed out the cabin, air, and fuel filter today. Pretty easy to do and I was able to knock them out in a about an hr or so. What really got me was the belt change, I dont have huge hands but there was barely any space for me to maneuver in there. There is this big silver bar right where the tensioner pulley is and its even hard to get a wrench in there. You must need tiny hands and really skinny long arms to do this job without scraping up your knuckles. Finally I was able to get it done but needed a friends help to put the belt on while I tried to get enough leverage on the tensioner pulley. Definitely was easier in the cayman. Oil change and spark plugs will be next.
Big silver bar that made my life miserable.
