Exhausts are highly subjective. Try before you buy...

The car came with a fabspeed max flo. Outside sound was pretty gnarly. Idle and WOT were very racecar. However I did not feel that the outside sound made up for the mega drone inside. It was hard to have a conversation with the windows up with the drone. I almost always had the windows down or the sunroof vented to help with the drone.
I replaced it with a used kline 70mm with advertised 100 cell cats but I think they are 200 cell. The kline is a lot quieter than the fabspeed. The WOT sounds great and has more of an exotic european sound where the fabspeed was more "racecar". The drone is very little to non-existent with the Kline.
Overall I was happy with my change but I do miss the fabspeed every once in a while when taking it for an extra-spirited drive. I like the fabspeed cat to exhaust connections with the band style over the Kline 3 bolt connections but it's not like your taking it apart all the time.

Kline with 200 cell has my vote, it’s quiet until you get on the gas, then it wails. Install wasn’t bad, even with bumper on.

My car came with a Tubi exhaust, previous owner says street version but I have my doubts. I love the sound outside but too much drone for my liking. No plans to change it, I have only driven it once (2hr drive home). It will be interesting my assessment, the next drive.

Doesn't sound like an exhaust you would like.

Thanks
Phil from Fabspeed here. Can we have a conversation about what system you were running on the C2? I would love to help you with your exhaust needs and not go overboard.

Speedtech 2.5" quiet. Not that quiet but is fine inside for daily driving and no drone though it is louder at certain rpm. Sounds great. Tucked up nicely and grounds less than the stock exhaust.

Fabspeed's Maxflo Performance Exhaust System is the perfect exhaust upgrade for someone who is looking for a more sportier sports car sound without being overbearing for street driving; available in either Sport or Mild exhaust tones. Having two different muffler designs allows us provide a free-flowing design that produces horsepower and torque but can also provide two slightly different exhaust sounds. Which gives the ability to offer the end user a choice between a slightly louder sportier sound and a slightly more mild sound to better fit their needs. From our years of experience and working with the owners of these cars, we have noticed a few things that will help you make your decision a little easier on the sound option. Most vehicle owners with a Manual Gearbox and Coupe model found the Sport version a better fit for their car and the Tiptronic / Cabriolet owners preferred the Mild version a better fit for vehicles with the open top and automatic transmissions for better sound control.

Not to "c-block" Phil above but that is the exhaust I found to have excessive drone. (headache inducing) I believe others do as well as they are one of the more higher discounted used exhausts on forums. If you are looking for a great racecar type sound and aren't susceptible to drone then you'll love it. My hearing is not the best from years of abuse in the past so it's not like I have super human hearing. (I can't hear above 13K) The build quality of the fabspeed i had was great but it could have used some Hemholtz chambers. For the cost you might as well go x-pipe.

I went with a custom from Markski tuning. Excellent sound and build quality IMO.

I've got a Cargraphic that gets me meatballed from Laguna 100db days

They make a quiet version I wish I had. Weird thing is that it's not really loud until the whooshing when the dv's start dumping boost.

Last time I was at S Car Go, Rob was showing me how they were reworking the internals of an oe 996tt muffler for better sound and more power. Could be just the thing for CA smog inspections that are getting tougher and tougher.

Hello R6vr6,
Sorry to hear that. A couple of questions. First, what vehicle did you have them on? Second, What transmission did you have? Third, Did you get the mild or sport? Did you do headers?

I have never heard of drone on a 996 with sport headers and Mild exhaust. In fact normally guys want to go louder. Now, if you got rid of the cats on the vehicle that could be an issue.

Factory headers, fabspeed cats, manual transmission, coupe. The car came with the exhaust so I am not sure which level of loudness it was but it had to be the louder of the 2. The exhaust was sold to fund it replacement so it is not around any longer.

I've love to get one of these Ruf exhausts, but a year+ of watching eBay/Marketplace has not born fruit.

If anyone has one that they would be interested in parting with, please PM me.

Thanks!

Based off of that system I would bet he went with the sport mufflers. They are a more aggressive.

Thank you for your feedback.
