In my experience Motul produces occasional smoke at startup compared to Mobil, the same weight.

Motul was used when my turbos were @ 24k. My car just refreshed w/ Mobil @ 29k.

They let off smoke on occasion; I let it run for a min or two after a spirited drive. Not out of the ordinary.

When you add oil, do you keep it running, or turn it off, then add oil, and let it run for a few to circulate..?

Add with engine off after it’s up to temp so you can quickly get digital reading. Messing around engine bay is never advised while running.

Also normal for boxer engines cause they're sideways.

My turbo will smoke on hills or inclines, is your car parked even a on spot or is there any type of incline Every time I picked my son up at school I have to rest on hill for 15 min and some smoke when I start it back up . Lol it’s a Flat 6 thing they wouldn’t understand.but never smokes other than that.

I have taken to letting the car run for a minute or so before shutting it off - smoke on startup has disappeared.

happened to mine same, although was every few days in frequency, I pulled the engine recently and found badly worn valve guides as well as a raft of other wear related problems, was only 100k miles too.

I have a 2002 996tt with 78k mi and don’t experience smoke on start up even after winter storage. Also currently own a BMW K1200 RS (four cylinder that lays on side), and have owned a 993 as well as other air cooled opposed twin BMW motorcycles that all smoked after sitting a while. So I’m well aware of smoke on start up. Never experienced it with my 996tt.
