Default Do I need a new engine? Hope not! Weird engine noise.

Car: 2004 TT Cabrio - 61k miles.
History: Oil changed 45 miles ago with Mobil 1 TDT 5w40. Been using the same oil for last 4 years. Previous oil changed at 55k miles.
Drove fine after oil change, no issues. Oil level is correct. No leaks.

Last Sunday, I washed the car and put it back in the garage. A week later (todaay), I started to car to go out, I heard this really loud noise (please see video).
It also took couple of seconds longer to start the first couple of times. I shut it off, checked for leaks (none) and started it again. Same noise. Started one more time and took the video.

Oil pressure is fine. No CELs. I have Durametric and I ran the "Short" test. No errors found except the old (P0491 and P0492). Using Durametric, I can activate the Secondary Pumps.

How can tell if it is misfiring? I hope it is not something major... although listening to the sound does not making me happy. I have the Durametric tool, so if I need to log and look at something, please let me know.
It has been very hot here lately but the coolant temperature has been normal. I do idle the car before shutting down for the turbos to cool off.

Please advise/help!!

If all you did was change the oil, and wash the car o don’t think it’ll be something bad. Did you put enough oil in?

The only bad bad thing I saw in the video was the fact that you started the car with the garage door closed

I drained about 8 quarts of oil and I filled a bit over 8 quarts as well. Once warmed up, I checked the level and it was between the lines. Also, after the last drive, I checked the level and it was good.
I do hope it is nothing real bad...

About running the car in the closed garage, I ran it only for about 30 seconds.

Update. Jason was right. I started it again and once the high idle fell, it quietened down to normal noise. I went for a 20 min ride and got back home.... oil level and noise level normal.
I also searched for lifter noise and the noise in the videos posted were identical to mine.

Thanks all.... this was the first time I experienced this noise and it freaked me out.

Sounds like you'very been hanging out over on the normally aspirated 996 board and have got the M96 jitters. ;-)

You’re worrying yourself too much! I'm sure many have experienced these symptoms with a minor outcome.

GL!

Don’t stress, the internet will scare you! You paid the price for a robust piece of machinery.

while everyone is saying its no big deal my 20,000$ built motor had brand new 997 turbo lifters installed. after a 1000 miles one of the flat tappet exhaust lifters failed and broke apart getting torn thru the engine and causing a catastrophic failure. oil pump , pass side scavenger pump, 2 bent valves, 3 scored cylinders and light scoring on the crank . stuck lifters arent to be taken lightly.

I have lifter collapse after 24-36 hours, consistently, Horrendous rattle on startup for 5-6 seconds, then everything is calm. It definitely makes me want to drive daily...

I experienced a stuck lifter on my 993 when I first got the car. Scared the heck out of me and I called the shop to bring it in right away. Halfway to the shop the lifter unstuck itself and all went back to normal. I turned around and went home. 7 years and 40+ track days later and the engine never felt better.

I also get this same lifter noise after every oil change on my motorcycle.
