Default installed GT3 Seats in my 02 996TT airbag failure light

I followed the instructions I found in several postings on here and in 6 speed online and disconnected the battery before disconnecting the occupancy sensor wire from the seat, and i installed the stock seat belts

I get an airbag failure light on my dash and then the airbag circular light stays on anyways , is this how its going to be with these GT3 seats? I could live with a piece of tape over the light but the airbag failure message every time I start the car is annoying , and I do wan the airbag to work.

anyone got some advice on this?

look to see if you installed the airbag sensor plug into the connector backwards. gt3 seats should not trip an light

I assume you tried to clear the code and it just comes back? From my research, if you're using the stock belts still hooked up, you should be able to just clear the code. I'm living with a light because not using stock belts anymore, and only dealer can code it out I believe. Interested in finding more info.

I'm sure you are already aware, but just in case...

Once tripped the airbag light will never reset on its own even if the original fault is rectified...

So if you had a loose or intermittent connector, tripped the airbag light, and then snugged up the connector (or corrected a reversed connector as 32 suggested), the light will never go away no matter how many ignition cycles you go through.

PIWIS, durametric, and some of the less expensive Chinese OBDC tools can reset the light if you think you might of corrected the fault.

the only plug that is being used on the passenger side is the seatbelt plug the GT3 seat has no other plugs.

on the drivers side everything is fine, I tried my cheap obdII scanner but it shows no codes in it to reset,

FYI pfbz , I did not have a loose connection, I unplugged the whole seat plug assembly .

does anyone make a resistor to plug into the remaining plugs to prevent the airbag light from being tripped?

When someone says gt3 seats we all assume the euro version. As most of everyone describes the others as sport seats or hardbacks.

Did you unplug the child seat belt buckle that's on the bar in front of the passenger seat? That will trigger the airbag light if not properly plugged in

I was just using a loose connection as an example... Whatever might have tripped your SRS light, even if rectified, it will never reset without an OBDC tool capable of doing SRS resets on Porsches. PIWIS, Durametric, some Foxwell devices and I'm sure some others but typically not your generic OBDC tool. It sure would be nice if SRS reset itself after x number of 'clean' ignitions but they never do.

@g-50cab, checking the child seat bar/buckle is a good idea...

Trendy,996 I was clarifying as someone commented the GT3 seats never trip the airbag... how could they not , they have zero electronics to plug into???

I just need help not silly comments
the only wire that is coming from the seat to the plug under the carpet is the seatbelt plug, as the rest of the electronics is on the old seat, there are no other wires coming from the GT3 seats ( why would there be?)

has anyone installed these the same way I have and not got a fault or light?

You need the ability to clear the code and troubleshoot the seatbelt connection otherwise your pissing in the wind. The drivers side if you have memory is the likely place the connector isn't connecting as it has more options. Picture of your seatbelt plugging into the OEM harness could help.

Horses before zebras, if you didn't have an issue before you did this and then had an issue after it's likely just a plug or placement issue.

I've attached pictures of what the oem orientation looks like this was before my seat install.

Good luck

@Sveach I just want to commend you on taking proper, in-focus pictures! It's still rare to see proper pictures posted...
That is all

I have the GT3 seats installed in mine and NO airbag light. It is possible that while it seems like a coincidence, it could be the buckle. Check and clean the buckle connections, clear the code (using durametric, PTS2, PIWIS), should be good.
