I'm new here & these 996TT are FAST
Hi, I thought I would introduce myself, share my ride and take a moment to throw out some thank you's.
Been a car nut since before I could drive. Ex's include SVT Contour, MK IV GTI 1.8T, MK III Jetta VR, and B5 Audi A4. The Contour was my first "car" and a fun car for a young kid. I quickly gave it a 2nd gear grind issue. Shortly thereafter after riding in a tuned MKIII VR GTI, I had to get a GTI. In the GTI I perfected the double clutch and quit ruining gearboxes ; ) Put GIAC chip in the GTI and gave it some Koni's, HR springs and HR sways. Another great car, but I sold it to a guy at Bob Hindson Racing to pay for college and got the VR Jetta. Fast forward 15 years to March 2017....
Drove to Chicago from KC in one day to go get a car I had not even driven yet. I had been looking at turbos for a long time, and I am so fortunate to be the caretaker of an amazing car!
The specs when I picked her up: 2002 X50, black interior, red stitch, carbon trim, sport seats (with Porsche crest), Roock Suspension, LWFW, Sachs clutch, Roock RST 600 turbos/ tune, Kreissieg Exhaust, and Fiske wheels.
Over the past year I have had to attend to a knock when I picked it up, it had iridium plugs which were replaced with NGK platinum. Replaced the diverters with Forge (one was completely seized), which led to the F pipe cracking, which was then replaced with a Forge silicone hose. After we got back from Porsche Palooza in Eureka Springs last fall, the radiators were starting to sweat, so they were replaced with CFS units while in winter storage. And of course the spoiler hydraulics went out. I do all my own mechanical work, so I will try and chime in with tech stuff as I can, and to add to the search database.
I must give a big thank you to our local PCA. The guys and gals are tremendously hospitable, hard working for the club, and very friendly. Also a big thank you to all of us that contribute to these car forums. You all provide trouble shooting and technical knowledge, information on particular models, and place to vent when our cars are broken.

Congrats! That is an eye catching color! Interior pic? I am curious what the red stitch and carbon fiber looked like together.
And I think my new lot in life is to follow NelsonTod around and read his posts. Straight and to the point.

Yeah, I got mine in Feb. It had a little love added already too. Damn fast but super classy with the tan interior and wood grain. Love this thing, even though I think I need to change the fuel pump out for a new one.
