Default Insurance?

Hey Guys,

I’m seeking insight with regard to car insurance. The policy on my ‘01 TT has been w/ State Farm (NOVA) since I acquired the car 11 yrs ago. As it currently stands my driving record is clear of any past violations. There are 4 cars on my policy in addition to condo insurance. The rate on my 911 has increased on a semiannual basis for the past 3-4 yrs. I recently inquired with Progressive and Nationwide, they stated there were no policies available due to the value increase. I’m under the assumption this is the reasoning behind State Farm upping my policy.

Is this the case w/ your policy in the U.S.? I never asked any questions after hearing what my cousin pays for his insurance oveseas.

Cheers,

-Rob

Nice! My car currently has 29k - i started driving it this yr and added 7-8k miles. I now realize how capable the car is of being a daily. I need a policy around 8-10k on an annual basis to play it safe.

Thx!

I’ve never heard of the insurance companies you guys speak about. I’m guessing it has something to do with the monopoly the insurance companies withhold in my neck of the woods. Practically everything is on lockdown around my way.

I definitely need to do some research. Thx for the input!

Try Farmers Insurance Co. I have found they have lowest rates.

If you have insurance brokers there, I recommend you let them do the shopping for you and they can present you with several offers. Like you, I had several cars and my house on an Allstate policy. Over the years, each year they gradually continued to raise my rates despite no claims or tickets. I kept Allstate for many years but came to the realization that companies have no feelings of commitment or loyalty to the customer regardless of whether you've been with them 1 year or 21 years. My broker found a policy with an equally highly rated company at 1/2 what Allstate was charging. Have the broker recheck rates every 2-3 years and switch companies as needed.

Just quoted Hagerty with a PCA discount for 3 of my cars. Stated value insurance. Definitely worth a look. Currently running Allstate on 8 vehicles and a house, and I think Hagerty may be the way for fun cars.

I don't think all insurance companies are equally easy to work with given a claim, so I think customer service needs to be balanced against premiums.

I have USAA insurance on five cars (including my 996 Turbo) and my house, and while I could probably get something cheaper, USAA has been outstanding in terms of their customer service.

My 996TT has remained fairly constant with State Farm and is one of the lowest rates of all my cars. My X5 on the other hand has gone up in price every 6 months with SF since I bought it. That is frustrating me.

Very true.
I actually changed radar detectors; changed to Valentine1 after being put on hold for 40 minutes by Cincinnati Microwave (Passport/Escort). Customer service matters.

On insurance, CS ratings and complaints need to be considered along with premiums.

Agree, Usaa has been great. I appreciate that they cater to the military and give back as well.
