By design it looks like the nut started backing off prior, then the load forces on that rod end were too much. With adjustable ends and heim joints it's easy to just replace the joints every so often. Not too expensive and cheap maintenance for a race car that seems much higher loads than a street car.
As for tracking the dollars, I’ve been able to make a few dollars off of my project cars and that’s my budget for tracking/racing each year As long as I keep it fairly cost neutral and I don’t get grief from the family. That being said, gettting a car “right” is always the priority and the budget is secondary.

Yep, kinda scary huh? Doing a beginning of season tear down would have caught this. My bad but lesson learned. So far, total repairs have been under $2k so I feel like I got pretty lucky. Have I mentioned how much I love Hallett.

Thanks but yikes! If I have to replace them I agree 996GT3 uprights would be the way to go.

Sorry about your car! What coilovers are you moving to?

Probably JIC presuming their new stuff is as good as their old ones. Also considering MCS or Cup Car shocks. I change my mind daily. If be happy with a rebuilt set of the old JIC.

A little more than kinda scary... I'd break down all 4 corners and go over every nut and bolt in the suspension at this point, sounds like you're already doing that though.. hope you dont find anything else scary in there..

So did this insert break and fail out or was the suspension never built correctly?

Thanks for the info. I called and talked to them. I had no idea they were based in the US because they are so popular in the import arena. They also have a NASA contingency program that gives you store credits for rebuilds and upgrades. They prefer to build every package to order and go over dynos which come with the shock. Some very fast S2k guys speak highly of them. I listen to people who are fast in there respective car/class. That's about it. Too many in the Porsche crowd buying more stuff and can't drive to the limit of what they already have.

This is right up my alley. Hopefully they handle like I expect they will based on opinions.

Very cool about fortuneauto. I'm talking to Feal about a set of 1-ways for the C2 race build I'm doing. I've run 1WNR, 2WNR, 2WR and 3-way remotes and as long as I can get the right spring weight, valving to match, travel, and ride height, then I'm happy. Feal has a $75/corner in house rebuild program that's tough to beat.

I would add that the time attack civic that ran 1:19 at Road Atlanta had Fortune auto 3 ways on it. That is otherworldly fast. The 991 RSR's qualified at 1:18 at Petite Lemans last year.

I'll have to check them out for my C2 build I'm doing.

And starting at the beginning. I'm going to pull the calipers and get them serviced as well as swapping to SRF brake fluid. The only time I've boiled my fluid was with Motul. And though I think SRF may have boiled too, I still stick with it.

Tiled garage floor? More pics of that please?

I got soft pedal often with SRF. Motul 660 has been better for me.

It's actually stained concrete. The previous owner used it for their dog house. After 6 years it finally smells more like grease than dog.

Here's the project my 14yo is helping with that we got about half the wires stripped from last night.

And here's the '99 C2 w/ a GT2 body kit I found for my uncle. He loves the look of the GT2 but has no use for the power. Final piece is getting the calipers painted yellow. I'll have them repaint the TT calipers while they are at it.

Good idea. I've got a great machine shop that's run by a drag racer. I'm planning on having him inspect everything below the subframe me.

7 of the 8 caliper bolts were tight, 5 of them felt like they were at or near torque spec. Other 2 were closer to 20-30lbs.
