Default Transforming TT front axle to GT2 Version

Hi Guys,

i am considering doing the step up to the GT2 front axle.
I checked the PET and i am not quite sure what parts i need.

I Need fore sure the GT2 hub shaft, the wheel carrier and the wheel hub.
Anything else?
Of course i need different suspension. The PSS10 wont fit anymore. I would change that to the kw club sport.

Thx for any advice.

if the wheel carrier doesn't come with stub axles any RWD 986/996 will work. I would look for boxster stubs they will be cheaper.
so you need wheel carrier, stub axle, new rotor, brake caliper, lower control arms and suspension

Care to share your reasoning for swapping to it? Are you tracking it?

I understand it's less weight, but aside from that is there another benefit?

Can't he avoid all of that by just using a disassembled awd axle stub or the billet ones they sell for 7/800? Is it also necessary to run a LSD with this modification?

sure that’s the budget approach. Due to fwd axle and front diff the suspension carriers have to be set forward. The geometry is not ideal for rwd. LSD necessary? No but not ideal. But hey it’s rwd. Once the novelty wears off of those that have switched back to awd. I can see if tracking only and at 9/10 10/10 but in the canyons I prefer the sure footed awd with suspension tweaks noticeably smoother power to the ground.

Yeah i do track my car.
Ok new calipers, pads and rotors. Thats fine since i wanted to upgrade the front calipers anyway.
I got some "pwdrhound mods" in the front, like inner fender brake cooling, bracket mod, GT2/3 LCAs, roled fenders.

That is a good point about the fwd carrier position.

nice! On a note of the carriers you will need to use the 6 gt2/3 calipers. If my memory is correct the mounts are different than the 7 GT calipers. Also the 6 GT calipers have the zircon pistons which are less susceptible to failure.

I already do use the 997 Gt3 MKII calipers in the rear with 350mm rotors.

Brake balance wise i am going to use probably the big ones for the 380 mm rotors. Not quite sure yet.

I use OZ Allleggeritas in 18", so there shouldnt be a problem with 380mm rotors.

Run the OE 997TT PCCB caliper adapter to fit the 7GT3 or 7TT front PCCB calipers to go with the 380s. The 7GT3 PCCB calipers are preferred for improved front to rear brake balance.

You can run the stock TT front brakes on the GT2/3 uprights, but you have to use a spacer between the hub and the rotor.

if your going to do a full gt2 front axle swap theres no need to talk to anyone but pwdrhound. john has the most extensive front /rear setup on a turbo of just about anyone on any forum. just get ready to dig deep this isnt for the weak of heart when it comes to cost

I think the front oem 6 turbo calipers will be off center alignment you can run them but it’s not worth going through plugging and remachining the mounting holes. I had to plug and pop new holes when I installed 6 Gt2 calipers to my stock uprights.
