Thx for the infos, like always precise and accurate.
Hmm, seems like these infos could stop my modding intensions for the front axle, besides brakes.
Will 335/30 in the rear and 245/40 or 255/35 in the front go well together? 255/35 will put more rubber on the ground i guess. Of course RWD mode.

Thx
Keep in mind that tire grip is determined by the size of the contact patch. The larger the contact patch, the greater the grip. There are two ways to increase the size of the contact patch, increased tire width and/or increased tire diameter.

The problem with the 255/35 is that its a much shorter tire than a 245/40. A 255/35 is roughly 24.8-24.9" while a 245/40 is 25.5-25.6". As such, while the width of the 255 is greater, the diameter is substantial shorter which results in a contact patch not much greater than that of the 245/40. In other words, you're not gaining anything. A 275/35 will be about the same height as a 245/40 but will be about 1" wider giving you a much larger contact patch. Now you're getting some grip! Hope that makes sense.

back then the 997tt was a few years out.... haha
That is correct.

thanks John, I’m old 😂 I’ve been out of it for awhile with the turbo. Time has flown by, I remember back when you started modding and asking me about mods. Now things have reversed. Glad you have continued on and now have brought much insights to the board. Gods speed!

Thanks Oak! Likewise my friend. I didn’t realize you had done the mod back before the 997TT days. The whole re-drill makes sense now.

Just because it's somewhat related to the conversation, here's the 2mm adapter that you can put on a 6GT3/Cup upright to use the TT rotor. But to Oaks point, you can't do it the other way around.

http://www.9products.com/product/279...or-adapter-gt3

As for tires, running the 245/640F 325/680R combination on the car I got from jferrante definitely wanted to push. The rear bar is set to full soft so I think I can dial it out. Interestingly the R888 245/295 combo I ran for a couple of sessions, even though I don't like the R888, did feel pretty balanced.

Thx for the hint with the adapter.

I guess i will give the yokohama A052 a try. Seems to be a very potent tire.

You might check out the RE71R as well. It's insanely good at the track for a street tire.

Tires are a hugh problem, not for street use but for road track use. A semi slick needs to be street legal for the car, which most of them are not. Toyo Proxes, yokohama a052 arent streetlegal over here for the 996 Turbo cause of the topspeed. I can use legaly michis cup2 and pirellis trofeo R.
Both sell no 255/35 and 315/30. Iam kind of damned to use 225/40 and 295/30 with awd or 245/40 and 295/30 without awd.

I am guessing NT01 Nittos are also not street legal for you ghostofpain? They serve me very well for driving to the track and back after a day of lapping.

I dont think you even get NT01 here in europe. So no alternative. Of cource you could drive with yokos or toyos but if something happens..no insurance.
Who knows what happens in this mad world....with all these mad leaders in charge.
