Ordered a new one plus the trim caps (screw covers) from Sonnen. $75 including tax and ship. Any tricks to removing this piece?

Is the aerospace 303 different/better than regular 303?

So this is confusing due to the many varieties of "303" available. The picture shows "Marine / Recreational". But you state "Spray on some 303 aircraft". Online, there are other varieties of 303 as well; e.g., "UV Protectorant", etc. Are all these flavors pretty much the same, or is there a particular version that is optimal?

For what it's worth, I repainted all of mine, along with wiper arms. It took my longer to disassemble and install than it did to paint. Came out like new, swear by SEM trim black rattle can, found at auto body supply centers. Wipe it with prep all and spray a couple coats.

I have an e30 as well. Strange to run across another human that owns both of these cars. Mine is Bronzite 1990 w/ black interior vert with Alpina rep wheels.

303 is good as a preventive on a good cowl. On a faded cowl it will just last a short while and your back to the faded appearence! Replace or paint and use 303 or anothet UV protectant!

Cool. Mine is Alpinweiss II with black roof and navy interior. Just regular bottlecap wheels. Automatic, so not real fast. It is in decent shape, but nowhere near concours condition. I actually bought it in 1999, sight unseen on the internet out of Plano, TX. Back then, people thought I was absolutely nuts for buying a car over the internet. One of these days I'll get it whipped into really nice condition. They aren't worth much, but they sure are fun little cars, especially on a nice spring or fall afternoon.

get the aircraft grade if you can find it, it’s what I use.

DO NOT ORDER THESE PART NUMBERS!!! They are for the right hand drive vehicles. I hope I can return them.

Picked up the new cowl and screw covers today at Sonnen Porsche. $62.79 with tax. Can't wait to fit it.
996-572-563-07-01C cowl
996-572-569-01-01C screw cover
996-572-570-01-01C screw cover

I had no idea new cowls were so cheap... Somebody needs to report how hard they are to replace.

My cowl was pretty faded when I bought my car... A few applications of 303 Aerospace followed by a few applications of Meguiars D156 Synthetic X-press Spray Wax and it's looking pretty good.

I really like the D156 spray wax because you can use it on plastic trim, glass, even the interior (and of course painted surfaces) without any chalking or buildup. It's become my new go-to detailing spray, awesome stuff.

Believe it or not, Kiwi black leather dye (the liquid kind that has an integrated foam applicator tip) works great to recolor faded black trim. This is for situations when there is no color left to restore using something like 303. I use it on the door trim and bumper caps on my Jeep, and they look almost new when done. Reapply ~ once a year.

Ok, Sonnen was totally cool with me ordering the wrong part number. I ordered the 996-572-563-07-01C which is the RHD model (~$65 USD). They'll take it back without a re-stocking fee and they have the correct one (996-572-563-06-01C) in stock at ~$113 USD. BTW, the screw caps are the same for both versions.
