Default Prices softening?

Am I the only one who thinks the recent price surge is reversing somewhat on these cars? Curious as to consensus from the group. Thanks.

On what basis do you say that?

Prices may be softening, but will not continue to soften. Or at least what I have been seeing.

Air-cooled prices, except for 356C models, have retreated quite a bit. But they are still higher than they were before the recent surge.

996TT prices are still rising. There are sellers here and there letting them go at below average prices so there are still good deals out there.

I noticed the same thing. But it is probably the low point right now due to the season as well.

Can't say I have seen a decline in pricing. The 996 turbo market has been pretty stable, if anything prices for nicer examples have gone up.

In my last couple of months searching for a decent 996t on the West coast, I found that dealers were pricing the cars 5k+ ahead of KBB. Moreover, they were unwilling to sell at anything close to KBB.

This. Watch what happens come March 1st. Happens every year, not just with 996TT but with nearly all makes & models. More pronounced with sports cars, and especially convertibles.

Pricing of nice west coast 996 turbos are still on the rise. Slim pickings for pristine examples, clean modified versions seem to go quick at higher price. Not sure if market corrections will effect much. Even at the recent uptick in prices the 996 turbos are extremely undervalued.

KBB is not a good reference for niche cars like a 911 Turbo. It's only a good source for Nissan Altimas and that kind of cars.

IMHO 996 prices will continue to move commensurate with and remain below 997 values, all else being equal - of course there is always the one-off that will exist.

Purely observation but I’ve noticed the price margin between 997.1tt’s and 996tt’s is narrowing. I think that’s really the best way to tell with any cars by looking at mod l succession.

Tough to say. I know in CA, clean examples aren’t cheap, and are only going up. And if we’re talking x50, or an S, then the prices are even higher. Thankfully I got my S about 2 years ago, and I’m pretty sure it’s gone up a bit.

Seem stable to me, with the prices being the same for the past 2 years.
