From the Durametric web page...
Can it really turn off my airbag light?
YES! Not only can the system turn off the airbag light but it can tell you why it is on in the first place.

My durametric did it fo me on my previous 99 c4 carrera. I would come do it for you but i have already used 2 of my 3 vin# And i still have not connected it to my Cayanne. And oops wrong south bay.

someone mentioned that the airbag light eventually cycled off, not sure if it will or not. I could live with that if so, just hate looking at the light at start up. I usually unplug the battery and for some reason I removed seats with out unplugging in the distant past and didn't have any lights or issues as long as the key wasn't inserted or turned on it was fine, evidently not this time around...

dos531 thanks for the offer, I may hit you up. I have never used one so hopefully you might have a better insight on how to use it. have you had to reset your airbag?

I believe a durametric will do the trick, but if it's an 'enthusiast' version instead of a 'pro', I think it will use up one of the three vin's that can be coupled to the tool.
Several reports that the icarsoft POR II (about $128 on Amazon) can also reset 996 and 997 airbag lights as well as many other functions.
(eg: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...bag-reset.html)
This isn't a 996, but you get the idea, though I'd verify 996 airbag compatibility with the vendor.

Just make sure you double check that it will reset 996 airbags... I think there are several rennlisters who have verified it for 997 and 991 gen 911's.
