Default Magnetic Battery Charger

I had a customer ask me for a solution for his battery dying after not using his car so I set him up with this trickle charger set up that I put together for him. I saw this set up on a Corvette and I like it.

It uses 2 magnetic connectors to make the attachment between the CTEK trickle charger and the battery. The best part is that if you drive away and forget that the charger is on it in your garage it just pops off and doesn't damage anything. Here are some photos of the connector. This is very easy to use and will save you a huge hassle when you go to the garage and the battery is dead.

If you guys may be interested in putting a kit together I will check and see how the numbers work and see if this is something I can offer. This is a pretty straightforward project you can do on a Sunday if you work on your own car.

DISCONNECTED (connection issues on the passenger belly tray by the front of the car.

That’s pretty neat, like an apple mag charger for the car

*edit, looked the connector up, wow that’s an expensive connector. Will just keep using my lighter socket for now, pretty obvious it’s still plugged in.

why not just use the cigarette lighter and then you don't need to get on hands and knees?

also this is different from the Apple phone charger as on this one you need to line up the contacts...but I guess similar.

Neat idea, just looks like a bigger pain than plugging in cig lighter.

Surprised there isn't a more positive response, this is a really cool idea. Maybe I'm the only one who connects it through the frunk to the battery but even if youre using a cig lighter this seems like much less of a hassle. Only concern I'd have is the connection getting dirty and causing issues.

Not understanding the reasoning here, how is it easier to get on hands and knees than just unplugging the lead from cig lighter?

Everyone is different but I could easily connect this just by crouching, no hands and knees required. Also isn't it a pain in the *** to use the lighter socket to begin with? Have to leave the door open or run it through an open window no?

I really like this idea. Where is that connection located? Under the front? How does it connect to the Porsche battery tender?

I don't think so. This car is a 2007 997 and it doesn't show any crud in the area where we mounted it. I have never seen any dirt build up in that area of the car. I feel it would be pretty safe from that.

its literally under the car and exposed to the elements. driving it in the rain would coat it with all kinds of crap. maybe for a garage queen this is a good solution...
