Twice in the last 30 days, when I went to start my 03 TT, it acted like the battery was almost dead, barely turned over, but did start. The battery is fine and all subsequent starts had no issues. I noticed afterwards that my trip meter was reset to zero and it reset some of my radio settings. Any ideas on what is going on? It could possibly be related to an electrical issue I have, as my headlights quit working about 6 months. Not an urgent issue since I never drive the car at night.

Check the motor ground strap for corrotion. Is undernearth the rear of the car by the passenger (right) side turbo.

If that connection is clean and secure you might want to replace the ignition electrical switch next. Cheap and easy. Details here:

Probably the ignition switch is at fault. Cheap and easy to replace..... Oups Carlo was little bit faster ;-)

Thanks. That makes sense. The motor ground strap is fine. I'll order the part and get that installed and let you know if that solves the problem(s).

Well, I replaced the ignition switch and it seemed to fix most of the electrical issues I was seeing, with the exception of my headlights working. So looking through some threads on headlamps, I determined that I probably had a bad headlamp switch. So I ordered the part and put it in today. Fixed the problem, all is well again. It is sort of weird that my 2003 Porsche with only 26K miles had bad ignition and headlamp switches (and is always garaged) and my 2006 F-150 with 140K miles and never garaged has had no such problems. But then again, turning the ignition switch on the Porsche is an experience in and of itself whereas turning the ignition switch on the F-150 merely starts the engine.
