Default Upper Strut Mounts

Can someone tell me what is involved with changing the upper strut mounts? Are they something that routinely needs to be replaced?

Remove the caliper and tie it off. Lower steering linkage and pinch bolt. Sway bar link. Tape outer fender area for scratches. 3 nuts on top of the hat and mark were they are on the shock tower. The holes are slotted for chamber adjustment. Pry off the coil at the bottom to release pressure. Pull down out and away from the fender. When its outside the fender pull up and out of the spindle. Now the top hat can be removed

Or remove the wheel, mark the 3 bolt position, remove the top nuts including strut nut, pull down on the piston, swap the mount. I did it in 30mins

Just replaced mine when doing shocks and springs. The old ones looked perfect, just dirty. Are you sure yours need replacing?
