GT2 value
A good friend who is not online asked me to help him figure out how much his car is worth before taking it to a dealer. 996 GT2 with about 3k miles, yes only 3000 miles, two owner, black/black. PM's welcome, this isn't a sales ad, just trying to help him avoid a bad haircut. What numbers I have found are all over the map.

If the car is perfect in every way it could be worth around $150k. If there are a couple flaws the value could drop to $100k. Condition is everything.
Why is he selling it? |
He's trading/selling the GT2 and a 993TT for a bigger fish. Thanks for the data points.

A 20K-mile two-owner 2002 GT2 just sold on bringatrailer for $125K ($130K with buyers premium), that's a retail/auction number. Clearly a 3K mile example would be worth more, so $150K is likely a good retail price or the car. If the dealer doesn't offer him a good price, he might consider putting his on BAT as well, there was lots of interest and there seller fees are quite low.
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...che-911-gt2-2/ Mecum also has had a few 996 GT2's cross the block in the past few months... An 18K mile 2002 for $122,500 ($134,750 with premium) just a few weeks ago (Vegas). https://www.mecum.com/lots/LN1117-29...rsche-911-gt2/ A 5K mile 2002 for $160K ($176K with fees) in August (Monterey). https://www.mecum.com/lots/CA0817-30...rsche-911-gt2/ Again, all retail auction prices... I'd expect a dealer to offer significantly less! If he wants to sell, but doesn't want the hassle of selling it himself or the haircut a Porsche dealer will give him, there are a few good consignment brokers that specialize in collector Porsches as well. PS, Mecum will show the car, but won't show hammer prices unless you set up a log in. |

Mecum also takes 10% + fees from the Seller, so take that into account as well...
BAT fees are super cheap for Seller, about $100. They don't take the majority of submissions, but I bet they'd be thrilled to have another GT2. Consignment guys I think start at about $1,000. If he's buying another Porsche, the dealer will also pitch him on how much tax he will save, though it costs them nothing. I wish my "next-Porsche" budget was about double, I'd make him an offer! |
difficult for me to fathom having a 993t and getting rid of it along with a 3k miles 996gt2?!. but i'd sell em both, but only for a new gt2rs. that said, the 5k mile 176k mecum example is a healthy sale, indeed.

I would like to buy the car. I posted my number on your public messages as it wont let me send PM's.

I was gonna say, just post it here on RL. Even if he's looking to trade up, you see some world class cars in the classifieds here.

But it also happened in Monterrey during Car Week / Pebble Beach Concourse, which is Mecum's flagship (non muscle car event). They bring in big dollars! |

Yes, a brand new 991 GT2RS is one of the few cars I would sell those cars for.
