you are of course, right.. increased "speed" increases "risk", at least, as relates to motoring.
the car was built to go the "distance" at speed. but if the OP is entertaining the notion of speeds nearing or exceeding trip digits above, say 150?
have a race prep shop prepare your car. or leave a will. as vasek polak did, in his test drive of a 993 turbo. that ends well, but only for the beneficiaries of said "will".

Speed never killed anyone, it is suddenly coming to a stop that gets you.

Hitting a high speed, then immediately slowing back down is much different from sustained high speed.
I've been much faster on 2 wheels, than 4, but did top my car out in 5th, indicated 158 IIRC.

So OP you are willing to pay almost $2000 for a single 4 mile run at speed? I know it's a charity event, but frankly I'd just get up a 5am on a Sunday morning and find a truly empty stretch of interstate...

If you get tagged by the PoPo at ludicrous speeds like that, it is a safe bet that you will go straight to jail, not to mention the tickets, car impound, court costs, insurance raise, etc. All that would exceed 2k for sure. I would probably get fired as well. If he has 2k to spend, then hell yeah. I say do it.

I’ve been at 200 mph 40-50 times, probably more. It’s fun and it’s done rather quick with a good car. The 996 Turbo is one of those perfectly suited ones.
General FYI, a stock manual X50 does 200+ mph tacho speed with no problem at all. I felt that there is more to give but gearing/rev limiter puts an end to it.

This thread seems to have taken a hard left turn at about 180MPH, I'm out...
Be safe out there at upper triple digit speeds, regardless of our varying perceptions of risk!
