Default Any Colorado Guys Here Having Issues With Emissions???

Coloradaronia

Has made it very hard to ETest our cars every 2 years.

They hit me for EGR system fail (we don't have one), Heated Cats (Nope), Airconditioning (works fine) and CATS 1 year old or so. The only test for readiness. FVD confirmed the CATS are in ready state. And the other crap we don't have per si..

Powder, are you in an Etest area? The stupid thing is it is only in the Denver Area to have an Etest. Rest of the state can do what they want.

Hey Tim,
I did my emissions a few months back at the Colorado air care testing center in Aurora (10190 E Warren Ave). They simply plug into the OBD port and make sure everything shows as "ready". I guess that's the Etest that you are referring to. I don't think they even put sniffer into the tailpipe this time. They did not visually check anything either other than for the absence of a CEL light on the dash. I had my HJS motorsport cats installed but I could have passed with bypass pipes if I had them installed as they do not throw any codes on my car. I was in and out in 10 minutes...

Yeah I found out about the no sniff test 2 years ago. FVD put everything into "ready" mode and it passed. Nothing has changed but the rules from the state (From what Chance told me). I sent my file to FVD and they confirmed all is set to READY. Maybe I need to hit another facility. It is all a $25 per car scam anyway.

You can simply plug in a durametric to check your readiness codes and reset/clear any of them.

While not a 996 TT, I had to do several "drives" to reset everything on my 997 TT so that it would pass the OBD smog test in Colorado. Bought a reader off of Amazon for about $50 and would watch the output to make sure it was in ready before I went back in. Went to the place on Warren st (off of Parker / Illif) and they tried to actually put it on the 2wd dyno.

I am always concerned with the "less astute" or "intellectually challenged" folks that work at the test stations. I always let Steveinson (Chance) do the test when they change the oil for me. Never had an issue.

^^^This.

Plug-in OBDII only tests are way better for enthusiast owners than the roller tests.

yeah, it's always a pain. with my 964, got into it with them when I noticed them trying to get into the frunk. Confronted them, asked why they were trying to look into it. One said he was proving to the other that the engine was in the back; while the other started yelling me to mind my own business.....

Out of curiosity, how do you have the dealer do the test and get the required air quality certification? I thought it had to be done at AirCare Colorado

Well I do not have a Durametric

Wross, Chance cannot do Etests right? You have to take it to the Monkeys. I have been in touch with FVD Germany but I think there is a language barrier. They wanted me to reflash to stock but did not send both files. I just flashed back to the file they sent 2 years ago that passed me. But i have no way to check. They had me upload my file to them a week or so ago and they said everything looked good but as you can see from the pictures the O2 sensors

if you flash a new file you now have to do a new drive cycle to get everything reset

Apparently not if you flash their file that has the settings to Ready (which happened 2 years ago).

BTW Anthony is a cool dude.. He mirrored FVD's process from my opinion.

Guess I have a "excuse" to go for a drive

I'd invest the $200 and get a durametric Tim. It's handy for troubleshooting along with this kind of stuff. $ well spent...
