Tim, correct, Chance actually takes the car to the inspection station and watches over them. After I heard one his stories how one of the test stations destroyed the front diff on a test I just let Chance handle it.

The front diff / AWD is one of the reasons why Air Care Colorado has gone to a 'no dyno, plug in to computer only' test mode for all AWD 911's... Even if you have Chance 'handle' the emissions, the only thing they will do is plug in to the OBDII connector and read any codes present.

Tim,

You want the Durametric Enthusiast, Version 1. List price is $287. The enthusiast is good for three VIN's, as opposed to the Pro which has unlimited VIN's. Sometimes you see them for sale on Rennlist with a single VIN used. I've also heard that Durametric sometimes sells 'refurbs' (there really isn't much to refurb, it's just a fancy cable, but I believe their refurb's are units returned to them and then reset back to the full three VIN capability) for a discount.

Thankfully, I don't have to get the emissions testing down here in Monument. Good info on the durametric though! I have a VagCom for my VW and Audi that has paid for itself many times over!

Ok, thanks guys. Going for 3rd test tomorrow. And I did get a Durametric. We flashed back to stock.. I also did the drive cycles. All is in a ready state. Fingers are crossed.

I am trying to figure out how to register it in Summit COunty at my Father in Laws. They just keep changing things all the time.

Fingers crossed for you Tim!

Hopefully it will all get sorted out! I hate emissions, I have to bring in our Jetta diesel here in the next week or so for the dreaded two year test.

Let us know how it goes!

Will do!

Is your VW under the "recall" etc?

Tim,

It is a 2005.5 so it is not under the recall. Great car and she has 175k miles on it. Just can't justify getting rid of it as it is an awesome commuter vehicle and with snows, works great for winter when we don't want to take the other cars out.

Hi Tim,

I live in in Denver and Breckenridge. I kept letting those monkeys play with my car every two years when the emission test was due in Denver. I never bothered to register up in summit county as I (incorrectly) assumed I had to drive the car up there for at least some physical confirmation the car was in the county. Fast forward 4 years, I finally decided to walk in and ask them what I needed to do to register up there. Turns out I didn't need to even bring the car there in person, show myXcel energy bills or anything. Just a copy of insurance, current registration, and the title in my case. The staff there was super nice, 3 people working and just 2 customers. You’ll never seen that staff/customer ratio down in Denver.

In summary, register up in summit county and enjoy some mountain drives.

I have a 996tt, but noticed a nice GT3 parked outside across the street from me about 2 months ago. The roads may not be porsche friendly, but the registration office sure is.

Grand County (we have a home in Winter park) didn't require any physical confirmation of the car, but DID require physical confirmation of an address in Grand County (utility bill, printout of deed, lease, letter from landlord, whatever) and a willingness to change your drivers license address to Grand County. Was a slightly better vehicle sales tax rate as well.
