My tt is a tip, and I bet I enjoy driving it as much as any here with a manual. That’s really the point here. New tt’s are pushing 200k plus, that’s 200k I’ll never have to buy one. So who really gives &@^*

I told myself I was done with this thread, but I'll give you a hint: Saying that something "bores the crap out of you" does not communicate respect for other viewpoints. When we're talking about a car that goes 0-60 in 2.6s, it also sounds pretty ignorant, and kinda like you haven't actually experienced it.

And what don't you get about my "All good. Different strokes for different folks" comment early in this thread?
Then you're missing the point too. I'm not talking about the car in overall terms. I have not made a single disparaging remark about the 991 Turbo S's performance numbers, or said anything negative about how the car handles. My comment dealt only with the transmission. PDK bores me no matter what Porsche it is installed in. It bores me because it takes away the man-machine interface that makes driving a manual transmission Porsche so much fun for me. I don't care what the 991 Turbo S will do in terms of 0-60 acceleration time; you just engage launch control, floor it, and release the brake. Other than driving straight and braking after 60 mph, it takes no other skill. It produces a great 0-60 time, but achieving that time as a driver...brace yourself...bores me. I believe it only takes one gear change for the car to exceed 60 mph. OK, a short round of applause for the one gear change the PDK popped off. Keep your foot in it through a couple of more gear changes and on public roads you are hyper exceeding the speed limit in many places. So will the 996 Turbo (it takes longer, but the result is the same). The difference though is that while driving the 991 Turbo S in a more responsible manner, the driver is IMO giving up the essence of sports car driving, and that essence is the beauty of being able to practice the art form of driving a manual transmission; the operation of both hands and both feet with the target of mastering each gear change; the challenge of making good gearing decisions and then actually pulling them off well.

Dude, we're not offended, and we get it -- none of that could possibly be lost upon anyone driving a manual transmission 911 Turbo.

I enjoy driving my manual 996 Turbo, even in stop and go traffic. Do you think I should have my "feelings hurt" when someone on this or any other car forum opines that they HATE driving a manual transmission in stop and go traffic? Should I be offended/hurt/sad/lose self esteem because their comment doesn't "communicate respect for my viewpoint"?
