996GT3RS rear window
Just picked up the lexan OEM 996GT3RS rear window, part number 996.545.111.92
Regarding weight, the question has been asked before. It weighs 7.7 lbs while the OEM glass is 16.4 lbs., so a savings of almost 9 lbs. high up in the car. Not bad. The window shown has the protective plastic film on it which is why it looks looks so dull/hazy. If anyone is looking for one, there are 3 showing worldwide in the Porsche parts system. All in Europe.

That is a big weight savings high up in the car, totally worth the swap.

This is installed just like the glass window. There is no special bulletin published by Porsche regarding the installation of this window. Yes, the RSR quarter windows are available.

Gotcha, simple weather strip install. For some reason I thought it may have been cemented to the opening and outer tabs attached to the body were needed. Are you planning on replacing the quarters too? If you haven’t already have you replaced the roof? Been thinking of doing this...🤔

I take it you're not familiar with powdrhound's posts and car? Go to his profile and check out threads that he started.
No, he's not barking up the wrong tree.

nice find John! I need to pick one of these up I suppose. It's perfect timing for me if I manage to do the roof this winter
I don't think both of his seats combined weigh 50 lbs... lol

Excellent rare part score Powdrhound. How do those end up faring over time? Do they end up spider webbing up like a lot of plastics and getting dull eventually?

I have no idea but figures since it's an OEM window it "should" hold up fairly well over time. I would certainly not put it on a daily driver that sits outside baking in the elements but for a track car or a weekend driver I think it will hold up fairly well. Porsche used this window on the Euro 997GT3RS 4.0 also.
