Pinned lines + tons of overrevs + no tune = car was flogged hard for long, including on track. Hopefully it always managed to stay on the black stuff but we'll never know. One thing that's certain is that conservative and mellow owner was horse**** like we knew it was.

That color is amazing though, so at the right price it could make sense.

i did find the record for tranny installation. spoke with the previous owner yesterday. the car did have a tune up untill 67000 miles from kevin at UMW. It had tons of aftermarket stuff that was removed and brought back to stock. it's kind a weird long story so I wont go into it but Jon (previous owner) sourced a rebuilt tranny from Kevin and had it installed at his home shop.

Now I have the receipt and the posts on 6speed online (went back and searched) that corroborate with the ad and the owners.

It all seems to add up to me. If it checks out and the price is where you want it to be, I don't see an issue.

Good luck with that car. It is beautiful and I like the interior mods. No issue with the over revs.

Just to add to this thread, the original owner purchased a used(not rebuilt) 996TT gearbox from me.

"Give me a ticket" red exterior with a tan interior. Not my personal taste, but to each his own.

There's a huge dichotomy in what these cars can do and what future owners would like to think that the former owners did with them :-)

So everyone wants one of these things for its testosterone-to-the-limit capabilities, but in the case of the used one that they are going to buy, they only want to buy one that was owned by the proverbial grandma, who only drove it to church on Sundays.

Sheesh.
