best high bite brake pad for stock system?
Hi Guys,
My 996 turbo, as well as my prior 03 C4S that shares the brake system, has always had a disappointing level of bite when braking compared to my 02 Carrera. I feel I need to stand on the pedal to get to stop hard, unlike my 02 Carrera model. It seems like they designed this system to have a significant amount of modulation to permit smooth slowing of the car which I don't prefer. I want it more aggressive.
On my turbo and C4S I've tried stock pads and Stoptech Street pads, but they both lack the bite that I want. Has anyone tried any other STREET pad that can significantly increase the bite so it is far more aggressive? Cool carbons? Hawk? Carbotech? Cobalt Friction? The 996 Carrera brakes feel so much better... so do the Cayennes!
If pads can't do it, can larger diameter rotors do it? Or is this only achieved with a GT3 type caliper up front with larger rotor in the rear?
Thanks for any suggestions or info about your experiences.

When you say high bite, are you meaning on the street when pads are often cold, or at the track after several hard laps?
A recommendation requires your intended use of the car.
I found with stock brakes on the street, Textar/OE with fresh Motul RBF600 had pretty quick bite.
On the track, the 380/350 combo with PFC 11/8 will get you down from 150 to 80 pretty instantly and don't fade.
The pedal in our cars does require more effort and may also travel more than many other sports cars I've driven but I like the modulation that allows. Ride a road bike a ton so it quits bugging you

Thanks guys. As I tried to state above, this is for the street only, and the stock system.
I am hoping someone feels the same as I (not enough bite), and has tried some pads I have not yet to save me from burning $$ trying to find the highest biting street pad. Based on StopTech's info, I thought they'd fit the bill but all they do is decrease dust over stock textar/pagids with no change in initial bite/torque.
MXRACER, I have never tried Hawk pads, thanks for that info!

I went with PFC 8/11's at the recommendation of people on here. Feels like a completely different braking system. Amazing bite, no fade, and INCREDIBLE stopping power. They transformed the car. Worth the school bus brake noise when Im driving to the track. The OE Textar pads are ok, but I much perfer the PFCs for doing any kind of aggressive driving. Im also running fresh Motul 660 fluid.

Adding the OEM 997 engine cam driven vacuum pump greatly increased the "bite" of the brakes on my car. Night and day..

I was also a little taken aback by how little bite there is in the braking system. Especially compared to my '0S 987s.
When I took delivery of my '02TT, one of the first things I did was replace the worn disks and pads with OEM rotors and EBC Red Stuff pads. I had the EBC's on my old '01 986S and quite liked them. On the 996TT however, they are junk. Heavy dust and no bite whatsoever.
I might try the PFC's when it's time for new pads, but I have heard that they are a wee bit loud.

I thought about this more... the C4S has the 996 carrera vacuum draw so the manifold vacuum itself shouldn't affect the feel... Maybe the booster is different on the Carrera vs. turbo...

Here is a suggestion, I ran the Pagid RS black pads, street and track, low dust, no squeal. Very good bite. Have moved on since the 6 turbo is only used at the track.
