WTB Cat Bypass or Other Exhaust Mod for 6gt3
my 6gt3 is just too quiet. i was thinking a cat bypass would not only sound better but also wake up the motor.
any other suggestions are welcomed
thanks

I have a stainless cat bypass, muffler, exhaust tip set up that I had custom made for my car at my storage.
Obviously took a significant amount of weight from the back of the car, made some power and sounded great. I'd probably sell it for $600 plus shipping. Went to a cup system a couple of years ago and put it away in a box. I'll get some pics of it over the weekend and post them up.

With cat bypass only on stock muffs you'll get a whooshing sounds lifting off the throttle. Very noticeable in a quiet area like an indoor parking lot. You'll get a cel too on steady state driving(doesn't effect drivability) Heard you can use O2 extenders but no experience with them. Replaced my stock muffs with fabspeed muffs - no whoosh and for whatever reason no cel either. You lose quite abit of weight if you do both cat bypass and a lw aftermarket exhaust. I wouldn't recommend muff bypass- insanely loud and doesn't sound good either. Mike

I'm about to, and have a pair of cans on the way to them. I did post a request a few weeks back to see if anyone had done this and how they liked it, but got no response.

My mechanic tells me I'll lose a small amount of HP due to turbulence in the pipes, I figured I'd give it a shot anyway.

Here are some pics:
We used two (Smaller, lighter and higher flowing than factory mufflers) Magnaflow stainless mufflers, Factory 993 Sport tips, and stainless tubing that retain the factory spot for your 02 sensors. They mount right up to your factory headers using your factory exhaust hardware.

I've got a Europipe complete exhaust with the cats deleted I should be listing in the next 1-2 months if you can wait that long. Waiting on a few more pieces to come in for my center exhaust conversion so don't have a solid timeframe yet but it wakes the car up quite a bit.

We just fabricated this 996 GT3 system with hi-flow cats and in-line tubular mufflers for a customer. We are offering all systems on sale for the week of July 4th, so call, email or PM for pricing if interested....

I felt the same way about my car. The engine makes such a good noise, you have to open it up. I did a ton a research and was very interested in the speedtech system. I ended up doing the dundon motorsports dual exit race system because I really liked their header design They are stepped and super long. They sound amazing. Mine is being built, but I believe Charles bought material for 3 systems. Expensive but awesome, everyone says worth it. 321 Stainless material is used so they are extra light (80 lb reduction from stock) and durable. 20 hp.

Thanks, we are pretty proud of what we achieved with this system!
BTW - It's also modular, so it can be adjusted to catless, mufflerless or both (for crazy great sound) with plug and play components and easily reconfigured back at any time. We also offer plug and play turn down or directional tips for track use.
