996 RS rear cage has mounting points for door bars. Then you will need the reinforced "race" front cage that includes door bars. FVD still has these for sale.

I have never seen factory installed door bars in CS cage though..

The side intrusion bars came with the cage in series I CS cars if you bought the OEM front cage. The Series I never made it to the US.

Sorry, I don't know the supplier. My garage had them lying around and fitted them up with the door pulls. I think they were from Germany in the early 2000's so probably lost in the mist of time.

Not sure that is correct - I have an early 996.1 CS registered to Olaf Manthey - fully caged, and yet no door bars. Also, very strange - aluminium doors with no impact beams inside...

I don't know either. The cage is a bolt-in Porsche item and has the the take-off mounts for the door bars on the rear section and down near the floor on the front section....just the same as on my GT4 OEM full cage which I ordered new with the car. Olaf is likely to have made his own cages. I noted one in a 996 of his in Nurburg village when I was there in July and the cage looked like a custom jobie to me.

Is that Adam S lurking here? I retired the GT3 from comp this year (after acquiring the new black beast) and promptly hit a wall at Bathurst in a regularity event (of all things). I've since decided to do a full restoration it as it has brought me so much sheer joy over the years I've owned her.

'twas the porker that had the incident (well I actually had the incident the GT3 was just along for the ride). Lambo is fine; though I missed three events this year. I am running it at Bathurst this week in the 2 day sprint event and will run my GT4 over the weekend in regularity. GT3 should be back together by Christmas ...maybe.

Upping a very old thread, but we are after fitting more rubber on a 996 GT3 mk2, and it seems that the 997 cup rims may be a way to go. It already has central locks and 996 cup rims.

Were you able to fit more than 295/30 and 235/40 with no issue ? (the championship this car is run in requires the use of Michelin Sport Cup 2 only...) what size did you fit ?

Thanks in advance

Cedric

I realise it's an old thread but what width are these cup wheels? I assume I'll need the cup hubs etc. rather than just the centre lock conversion that can be bought from Porsche?
