Big "blip" between 4th and 3rd?
Not sure if this has already been mentioned... I noticed that the gearing between 3rd and 4th is patricularly tall, requiring a pretty concerted effort to "blip" for a smooth heel-toe. 6-5-4 and 3-2-1 seems reasonable.
How major of a job is it to change gearing? Is this of the magnitude of of a tranny rebuild?
Thanks,
Charles

The ratios between adjacent gears from 6th down to 1st are 118%, 121%, 129%, 138% and 178%. 4th to 3rd isn't that much more than 6th to 5th and 5th to 4th. This is probably too self evident to suggest, but have you tried waiting a little longer while your braking before doing the blip? Also, a very light grip on the shifter sometimes helps, for some reason which I can't explain.
The Cup car gearing has ratios 120%, 120%, 119%, 128% and 158%. So they would be better in this regard.
The 120% ratios are good by the way because end up around 6700rpm after an upshift, which is above the place on the engine HP curve at about 6600rpm where HP starts to drop rapidly. The larger 129% ratio puts you below this point at about 6400rpm.
I think Cup car gearing would be very good mod. Cost should be less than PCCB and give you much more bang for the buck, IMO.

Interesting to see the ratios. Subjectively I found the 4-3 shift requiring relatively more gas than the others. This was independent of what RPM the motor was at, so the pause you described wouldn't/shouldn't make a difference.
I agree that the Cup car gearing is perfect. Perhaps I am too used to the Cup car gearing!

Really close gearing is great. Gear sets are about $1k/each, plus labor.
