Recommended transaxle fluid?

1 Attachment(s)
My 3 is due for a fluid change.

What are your recommendations?
  • Stock P car fluid?
  • Redline shockproof / no shock?
  • Mobile 1 Delvac? (did not like this in my 993 with LSD)?
  • Other?

Car is 98% street / 2% DE.
Based in So Cal, so it is WARM here.

Thanks

Ps. looks like fun to re-fill with the cooler sitting right in front of the fill port.................

I thought that the Mobile 1 Delvac was the recommended Porsche fill?

In any case this is what I just used, been afraid to try anything else...

Yep - the refill is tough, make sure you have the correct plug, can easily become a $4k fill

I'm a Delvac user, but have used Castrol Syntec 75w90 in other modern Pcars with great success

M1 Delvac, same thing Copans said to use after rebuild with LSD.

Fill is easy once you get the bolt off. I bought a pressurized pump and it was a breeze. Others had similar experiences and recounted them here. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-gt2-...e-weekend.html

Good luck!

with a pump of some sort, it is a very quick and easy job...let's say it adds 10minutes to an engine oil change or similar (ie. car already on hoist/jacked-up)

Thanks for the feedback and the linky.

And we need to change it every 90 days, right? (j/k :)

When TLG rebuilt my LSD with the Guard plates, they used Redline 75/90 NS and and then added Redline LSD modifier

Haven't heard any noises from the diff - car drives well

I've been told that any modifier reduces the locking factor so it will not chatter. Less locking factor so the customer doesn't complain about any noise.
Do you think the race teams use it?

I tried Redline but had very slight crunch from 3rd to 4th but only during redline shifts. I replace with porsche oem for gt3 and it was gone.

Suggest you just buy porsche oem for gt3.

This is on my 6Gt3 mark 1. Hope this helps.

TLG (Marco) told me that he uses the same fluid combo in his racecars...just saying - obviously take that with a grain of salt.

My car isn't a racecar...

What is the OEM fluid in the Philippines? That could be pretty different fluid than what we can get in the US...

If you live on Vista, you have a Porsche trans expert near you. To my knowledge, his name is Jon Bun ( pretty sure that's his name ) go to guy that rebuilds 935 / 901 / 915 and the like of Porsche trans. As some have suggested, just use the factory fill. When I had the factory LSD rebuilt with Guard internals, I just follow the recommendation of factory fill too.
