I play Forza 4 with the Porsche Pack for Xbox 360 with the fanatec Porsche GT2 branded wheel. I actually have two setups but only use one. I have the GT2 wheel, motorsport pedals with hydraulic resistance adjustable brake pedals, along with manual shifter. I would sell the whole setup with a copy of Forza 4 for half of new if anyone is interested. PM me if interested.
In that game, among others, it has the 2008 GT2, 2005 GT3, as well as 993 GT2 which are all have an amazing amount of feel and character. They also have cayman r, 997 GT3, GT3 RS and old stuff like 944's and 914's. I'll always keep this setup because they start omitting older cars from newer games.
My goal is to have a Forza 4 setup for X360 and Forza 6 setup for XBOne once the Porsche Pack is released (i haven't heard any news on that yet though).

Turn 10 does such a great job on Forza. I've always been a gran turismo lover as well but the real samples of engine sounds and physics for me give the nod to the Forza team.

you can't feel weight transfer/surface change/ etc/ through a video game, take the car to a low-risk track/autocross etc

Race Car
iRacing is as good as it gets for realism, feedback through the wheel, car physics, and proper track modeling. Read up a little on how they image the tracks and develop the cars and you'll know why it's about as good as it gets for a simulator.
Of course your gear is going to help there too but you don't have to spend a ton of cash for it to be really really good.
They also now have a RUF 911 since they couldn't officially get a Porsche vehicle otherwise.

To get a decent experience you need the full Fanatec or equivalent wheel, pedals, race seat, solid construction race seat frame, HD display that is close enough to the seat, and sound system with bass.

Thank you!! I get especially warm fuzzy feelings from this compliment as I am part of the team that designs our vehicle physics.
If anyone has any suggestions or complaints about the physics or really anything in game, let me know! We are pushing the limits of our current physics engine with some of the cars in-game and upcoming in DLC and are working to enhance/rebuild it for upcoming titles. I'd love to take some ideas to make the game more realistic/enjoyable.
I must fully agree with the comment that playing the game is no substitute for real world track experience. We do what we can, but its just not the same.

I bought the Porsche Pack for the Xbox One Forza 6 and was VERY disappointed not a single 928 in the bunch...how can you leave out the car that was the flagship of the line for almost 20 yrs?
Who knows, maybe some of us want to pretend we're trying to get away from Guido, The Killer Pimp
