Noticed this yesterday when looking over the engine bay...should those wires be in a loom and not exposed like that?

Thanks in advance

Mine is half covered in loom, half covered in heat shrink.

That's the oil pressure sending unit which is a very common part failure. Wouldn't surprise me if the loom was cut when it was replaced at some point in time.

Thanks for the info...do you suggest I wrap it in electrical tape to protect it?

You can do that or...

Unplug and clip the connectors to the sending unit. Take the connectors to your local electrical supply and buy replacements, heat shrink tubing and a crimping tool. Shrink the tubing onto the exposed wires, crimp the connectors on, and plug it back in. Will give you a more professional look.

Good luck

They have been replaced, those aren't stock spades.

I suggest wrapping both wires together in new shrink tubing, and new higher quality spades from say here; http://www.waytekwire.com/products/1...ade-Terminals/. Use a little shrink tubing on the spade. The oil pressure sensor is very important, I say a little work to keep it tidy would be worth it. Imo.
