Default Who has 350mm rear Girodisc's on steel brake car?

Apparently not my week for rotors

Simple question. Those with 350mm Girodisc rears on a steel caliper car...how large is the rear caliper spacer?

1) 10mm
2) 14mm
3) 15mm
4) don't worry, less brake more gas!!!

Thanks.

Andy, been so long since I did that, but seem to remember is might be 10mm. The folks at Stable Energies would know for sure if it can wait until tomorrow.

The rest of the story....

I purchased these rotors gently used, nearly 3 years ago and just recently put them on the car. For the last few weeks I've been chasing a noise that sounds like brake pads dragging, pad deposits, something of that variety. The noise is subtle but driving me crazy.

The odd part is the noise doesn't go away when you apply the brakes like it would with pads dragging. I thought maybe e-brake but that wasn't it either.

In looking closer this evening the rear pads are overhanging the outside edge of the rotor leaving an edge that has formed on the pads and a clear wear pattern on the outside edge of the rotors. So the rotor is slightly out of round but it's the outside edge dragging on the pads and explaining why the noise never goes away

The spacers I got with the rotors are 14mm. As others here have stated I would have expected these to be 10mm. I'm not sure if the 14mm is a mistake or to clear the hardware on the rotors.

Hoping to get confirmation before I go machine these things down to 10mm

Threw the OEM rotor back on the car this evening and no more noise

Called girodisc twice today to try to confirm but no callback yet

Several years ago I ran the rear 350 Giros on a car that came with 330 factory steels. The rear caliper spacer needed to be precisely .440" (11.18mm) to fit the larger rotor perfectly. This was with PFC 776.08 pads. The spacer that Girodisc provided was slightly thicker at 12mm if I recall and I had a machine shop take it down to .440" for a perfect fit since the pad would overhang the edge of the rotor a hair with the 12mm spacers. The Giro rotors are great stuff!!

Thank you for the measurements. I'll confirm then head to the machine shop!!!

This is what the pads look like. Should have checked more closely on the initial install. Shame on me for trusting something that's *supposed* to fit.

I can confirm the spacer provided with the Girodisc 996 GT3 rear 350mm kit is 12mm.

We've sold quite a few of these kits without any fitment issues reported back to us, I will see what they have to say and report back.

I should just be able to rub that pad on the concrete, like I do when I bed them, in order to get rid of the lip right???

...excuse my poor humor, I try to find the best in every situation.

If you are using PFC pads, just put them in and go. No bedding required. The stock 12mm Giro spacer works just fine. I'm pretty picky and machined just under a millimeter off of it to perfectly match the rotor but it may have just been that the PFC pads were just a little off. You will have no issue running the stock Giro 12mm as is. If you will look at an OEM fitment, the brake pads always end just shy of the edge to the rotors and not all the way at the edge of it. That is the reason I reduced the thickness of the spacer just a tiny bit.

Andy, If you need 12mm spacers please give us a call, i can send some out to you.

Also you should be using extended caliper bolts, 100mm long, we have those too if you need them.

Bolts should be 85, not 100

Thank you for everyone's feedback in this thread, and thank you to Girodisc for returning my call and confirming 12mm is correct as well. Impressed you guys monitor the forums to keep after your products.

**edit** Thank you to Joe @ Stable, Joe stepped up after talking with Girodisc and sent me the correct spacers free of charge. Remember this is for a product I did not purchase through Joe. Stand up individual and stand up Vendor from both Stable and Girodisc to support their product in this situation.

Wow is all I can say!!!

I'll definitely check out Stable for future business. THAT is the type of vendor I do business with.
