Default 996GT3 at CNC in SoCal...any stories with this car?

Listed here
CarFax here
VIN: WP0AC29915S692144

Looks like 5-6 (or maybe 7) true owners and it started life in Ohio.

Most recently, Auto Gallery picked up the car and then sold it (though it looks like the CarFax doesn't have this detail). When I talked to the salesman, he said they replaced the entire suspension with new parts before they sold it.

Anybody know this car?

Thanks in advance!

AutoCheck tells the same story as carfax, neither has anything bad in it other than lots of owners but that's how these cars are sometimes.

Despite being stock and "unmolested" it's still a no option car with 50k miles on it. $66k is WAY off the mark in my opinion they'd have to come down over 10k for it to be considered a reasonable buy.

Thanks...are you basing the "No options" based on the pictures? Or is that reported in the AutoCheck (the advertising is pretty sparse on details about the actual car)?

Agree on the price as well...

Pictures tell the story as well. No ceramic, no colored gauges, no leather, no colored belts, no carbon, etc

nothing wrong with a low / no option car...my car only had like 3k in options that's the way I prefer them...just making sure you understand that too. It's pretty easy to add 15k in options if you start doing full leather and carbon bits inside never mind carbon brakes. Never get that back in the second hand market but should account for something

Josh,

There's a sticker on the underside of the hood. This sticker lists the options codes. this is a pretty bare bones car.

Here's a helpful decoder list:

There were only 200 of the 2005 built, and only 100 imported to North America. It could become a collectible
If it checks out, buy it. Great car even with not options. As others stated, bare bone with fittings not fixed, LSD not upgraded, shocks worn, etc my offer would be around 55-58.

Thanks all...definitely appreciate the info on the options. Still new to the Porsche world so I can't spot the options and extras directly from the pictures (I'll get there very soon).

Anybody actually touch/own this car in the past? Just curious if it has any stories that aren't shown in CarFax.

Thanks again

Regardless of the options a 996 GT3 with 50K miles it not a $66K car. Many with less than 30K miles struggle to even get $60K.

here's the buildsheet:

http://admin.porschedealer.com/repor...AC29915S692144

Not too many 996 gt3's for sale so the pickings are slim. I found my 2005 yellow with 19k miles and over $13k in window sticker options for $68k last month.

That car doesn't sit right. I'd hold off until something else pops up. You could always pm a member who's car you like if you have a $65k budget. Everything is for sale for the right price.

Nothing necessarily wrong with the car if it looks clean and if it checks out at PPI (including a compression test). Not many of these for sale and the overall gt3 price trend is up so getting an analog gt3 for less than 60k would become harder with 150k+ 997rs and 200k+ 991rs.

Just curious, why do you say that? The number of owners? The sketchy dealer?

Another one poped up in SoCal...anybody know anything about this car

VIN: WP0AC29954S692307
Specs: here
Miles: 71,800

I'm not totally gun-shy about the engine rebuild ... especially under warranty. The eBay ad does totally **** me off (lack of information and general lack of detail) and I've already contacted the eBay seller to get an email address so I don't have to "call David".

Just wondering if anyone knows the story of this car....

Thanks again

::: Disregard, I heard from a friend at a Porsche dealership who ran the VIN that this car has had multiple problems and repairs. Avoiding this one
