Short shifter vs stock 997.1
I will put my car in the shop in the next week or two to weld my coolant fittings. While the engine is out, I'm doing other works as well, new coil, spark wires, new Guards LSD, etc etc, (Not changing clutch at this time- saves 3k unless wear indicate I should)
I only do DE events with my car and don't plan on doing time trials nor other racing. However, I do want to improve the shifter and replace the rubber/plastic components connecting the transmission with something more reliable. I am more concerned with a money shift (due to shorter throw) than shaving 0.5s off my lap time because I can shift faster. Therefore, does this crew recommend to replace the shifter with a 997.1 GT3 or going with the Numeric shifter set for the longest throw? either case would include the cables to remove the rubber components at the transmission. or should I just replace the rubbers parts and save myself $1200, then bring spare for the track?

Cup cables with 6cup shifter(same throw as street) very precise like a rifle bolt. Numeric is similar alternative. If u don't do cables just 997.1 shifter slightly shorter less slop but still sloppy. Understand that with cupcables u will have more cabin noise. Mike

Just installed a 7 inch riser from Rennline the short shifter, and waiting for numeric to finish testing their cables for our platform. Love the riser. Love the shifter. Next time we are at the track climb in for a session or at least the parade laps.

Thanks Charles. I will take you up on that in Sept.
A new shifter and cup cables was $1100 so I decided to save for now. The other stuff I'm doing is expensive enough, $8500. Next time. Thanks for the help.
And I can make this a home project and save $400. :-)
