Suncoast RS 4.0 Clutch Kit Installed
 

Thanks to 911SLOW and TKX Performance for confirming this would work.

I didn't intend to have the clutch done with only 13k miles, but I figured it would be beneficial to have it done while the motor was out.

Ordered the kit from the 7.1 non RS section in Suncoasts's site. The kit installed without anything special being needed.

Impressions:

It feels like it was meant for our cars. The clutch pedal is a little lighter and the car revs more freely. I personally didn't notice any added noise and I'm usually pretty sensitive to that sort of thing.

I will say the LWFW is a nice touch, but at $2400 + install I wouldn't say you NEED to do this. If, for some reason, you're like me and the motor is coming out, then I'd definitely recommend it if the added response is worth the price to you.

Also, a lightweight crank pulley is recommended. You can go stock and get the RS pulley.

I went with the suggested evoms pulley. It is based off of the stock lightweight aluminum pulley. Not that it matters that much, but it is 27% lighter than the upgraded OEM aluminum pulley from the 2010 3.8L GT3.

More importantly, is the increased surface area where the pulley mounts to the crankshaft. The evoms design increases this mounting area by more than 66% which distributes the contact load of the pulley over a larger area and eliminates the possibility of the pulley spinning loose, even at higher than stock RPM levels.

These two combined (The EVOMS pulley is only $250) still make for a reasonable upgrade to "while we're at it". I hope you guys went ahead and did torquesolutions trans and motor mount upgrades as well!

Have to buy tires, install tires and rear toe arms, align and corner balance, pick up safety odds and ends, install seats and roll bar, install joe toth splitter, install mesh grill, trans flush, brake flush.

Have a lot on my plate.

Yup... My list had the clutch kit, LSD rebuild, front balancer, motor/trans mount upgrade, all water pipes, coil packs, plugs, filters and fresh fluids.

Assuming it was going to run me better part of $10K for all that, I threw in the towel and sold it. The next one I buy will have everything done to it ahead of time.

I have to admit guys, I'm really bitter about those water fittings being glued in. How can such a sophisticated car have such a weak link that could potentially be so dangerous and yet it got out of production as "acceptable" across multiple platforms?

Same as the centerlock issues. Many cars have problems like this. My e46 was way worse.

I'm already 5 figures in this year. Just part of car ownership.

At the end of the day the car didn't need any of it. Welding the pipes alone would have been $2k or less.

It's easy to get too caught up in mods.. I'm just doing the minimum, which happens to still be a huge list.

I'm waiting on diff rebuild (mine is still good), steel brake conversion, any suspension other than rear toe arms, motor/trans mounts, shifter upgrade, cup shift cables, wheels, exhaust, tune, etc
