Winter Project - Save 18lb for $100
I cannot believe how huge the aftermarket battery is in my GT3 (AC Delco). I just weighed it, it's 48lb. I previously weighed the battery from my 944 Turbo, it's 30lb. Both have the same height and width, but the one from my 944 Turbo battery is shorter. This winter I'll pick one up and get a fabricator friend of mine to build a simple mounting adapter for it. I also read something here about the GT3 battery tray being super heavy, so may replace that with a plastic tray. Cheap and easy, and at least an 18lb weight savings...nice!

I use a Die Hard E2 group 47 and it fits in the OEM tray in the last hole of the factory bracket. It's the same spec as a EU GT3 battery. And you get a lifetime warranty with Sears. I don't drive my GT3 everyday and I've never had a problem with it. That set up will save you weight without modifying your car and without any battery problems if you want to use the AC, radio...

Nice - thanks for the photo. So no custom bracket req'd, bolts right in!
I looked into getting an Odyssey PC925 a few years ago for my last car, it was the smallest one that looked like it would work without being high maintenance (ie. not having to stick the battery charger on the car if I didn't drive it for a few days). IIRC, it turned out the PC925 was only a few pounds lighter than my Group 47 AC Delco, so I didn't bother.
