996 GT2 buying guide tips?

Hi Guys, the time has come for me to say goodbye to the 993 Turbo that I've enjoyed for the last five and half years, and I have a GT2 itch that needs a good scratch. I'm looking for a very focused car that I can learn and grow with, not something I can just jump in and thrash.

I'm viewing a 2002 car for sale in the UK tomorrow with 11.5k on the clock any pointers in addition to the usual check for paint and body damage.

In particular how do I access the PCCB rotors/discs and any other potential items that you guys might suggest that I check.

Where are the factory stickers located on the car, VIL is that still under the bonnet, paint code is located where and also any other stickers that should appear in the door shuts etc.

Don't hold back on me what should I be checking before going down a PPI?

What are thoughts on market value in the UK at the moment?

Many Thanks

Aren't 993 turbos appreciating now?

I've had my 993 TT 5 1/2 years and have done well with the increase in value, I'm looking for something more focused that has the potential to do the same.

The 993TT has enabled me to look at the GT2's due to the increase in value I have seen. The price seems to have stabilised on the 6 GT2 recently after the big depreciation hit initially.

What's the general consensus on values?

Magazine article has values in GBP at 57k-65k (sub 20k miles) in 2007.

Sorry to bump an old thread, that PDF was superbly helpful. When I see FS ads, people with 04 cars seem to have no idea about the power bump that this article mentions. Did US cars actually get that bump? US cars seem to have gotten the 10 spoke wheels, the carbon mirrors and the carbon spoiler so I hope we got the power bump too :)

The article states the bump came from re-designed K24s and a software upgrade...

Here is an article from a UK magazine, my car was used for the shoot.

the rotors will be something to inspect closely. In genI the service books have photos that the tech used for guidelines in evaluating wear. For a quick glance prior to PPI look for chips and rub your hand over the rotor surface. Should feel like glass.

Hi it's issue 69 of total 911 magazine, has a blue speedster on the cover.

Enjoy.

I should give a plug to Adrians Streather's 996 book. Adrian owned a 6-2 and loved it. The best info on these cars with lots of technical details as well as DIY. If you own one you should have this book.

Just back from a 45 minute ride in my recently acquired 03 GT2. This car is fantastic and I think extremely undervalued at this time...Its a beast and it is still stock except for the HRE's...so far
