Default WTB: White 996 GT3

I know it's tough to find, but they do come up for sale periodically.
There are some other very tempting specimens on this board in yellow and black but certainly not my first choice in colors.
Does anyone know of any white ones for sale priced in the high 50k range? Stock or modded doesn't matter. Please no 5k -10k mile examples where 100% was on track.

Good luck with the search. I was initially looking for a white one too, but couldn't pass up on a local deal for my black car. Can't say I regret it one bit.

Chris, finally giving up on the imports eh? I'd say if you aren't picky on colour there's a few gems for sale. Mine will be coming in the new year

Hey Steve!
Long time man...
I'm still driving the leaky rust bucket (ahh it's not that bad) typeR daily, but the s2k weekend car needs to be replaced.

Thanks for the input Serge. I've been following your 4.0 build with much excitement. Kudos to you.

Will do. By the way, I recommend that you stay with your first choice on color. No reason to compromise if you have patience while looking and are willing to search US wide. Buying is a lot of fun.

Assume you are looking at AutoTrader, cars.com, PCA, and Porsche sites.

While there have been a couple sales for reasonable money lately I still think the $50k GT3 is a rare find, even more difficult if you're after one specific color. If the trend from the last couple years holds true you need to buy between now and March 1 to get the best deal. If you find one reasonably close to what you want and reasonably close to the money you want don't hesitate, I missed a couple that way.

I tried to go only after white, but in the end added red and yellow to the list and eventually found the perfect car (2 years later). Passed on quite a few black ones that were outstanding cars just couldn't do black.

FWIW There was a white one in the Chicago area that may still be for sale, it wasn't heavily advertised but I know it was available even recently. Has Motons, seats, roll bar, harness', and other misc track mods, it's considerably more than 50k though.

Don't know if still available, but the color is white and low mileage, price is also not unreasonable and maybe can be negotiated:

Chris, you'll love the car much more than the S2k in some ways...but that snick snick gear lever is the best in the biz (Honda).

Shoot me a PM we need to connect I have a new cell.

Thanks for everyones input. I really appreciate it.

enthusiast - I appreciate your words of wisdom. I was set on a color for my s2k and jumped at a good deal on another color. In hindsight the car has worked out very well for me in 5 years of wonership. Silver is #2 and black # 3 colors for me. I need to stick to my guns for a while though so white it is.

rennstore - yes I know. Anyone know how many white 996 GT3's were made?

AudiOn19's - yes, 50k is a rare find. I'm looking for something in the 50's. Lower 50's 'seem' to be the more used/more enjoyed vehicles. higher 50's seem to me lower mileage, but with a car like this lower mileage isn't always a good thing. I know of several s2000 owners in my current car club that used their cars 100% for track time, drove only a few k miles, and then sold the car for a premium because of the low milage.... so what gives?

964C4 - thanks for the link... but is this one of those 'buy new and log 7k track miles then sell it with low mileage examples?" Tough to say I guess...

The deals do exist. You just have to jump on them quickly and have cash in hand.

I saw a nice, low mileage silver GT3 on craigslist a few weeks back for 49k. Private sale.

We have to pay an extremely high import tax (i think) when importing into the EU from any country outside the EU.
So from the US to the EU for example. (Purchase price + shipping + insurance X 10% inport tax X 19% sales tax)

What do you US guys need to pay import tax wise when getting a car from the EU or Japan ?

Q&A - I imported my s2k from the states back in the day. I seem to recall paying regular sales tax and 6.1% for duties. Not sure about Americans importing to America though...

I'm trying to post up a pic of my current car but can't trick the work computer to letting me get this accomplished... hmmm....
