It seems there are a lot of shops around the US that could do a simple swap if pre-welded assemblies were available. But there aren’t nearly as many that have in-house expertise at welding aluminum, particularly for assemblies that are sensitive to warping/sealing constraints. And they might not want to have a disassembled car taking up space in the shop while the parts are sent out for welding elsewhere.
One thing that would make this repair more accessible around the country would be a set of donor parts that could be pre-welded and sold on a core-exchange basis. In other words, you bring your car to any competent Porsche shop, have them drop the engine, unbolt the non-welded parts and immediately replace them with pre-welded assemblies. The non-welded parts are then sent back for a partial credit against the original purchase, and subsequent welding for the next person doing the fix. Any idea what a set of new donor parts would cost (i.e., the nipples and removable castings to which the nipples get welded)?

The guys on NSX Prime had something like this set up with specialty tools. You signed up for a tool on a list and. When you got the tool and used it you mailed it to the next guy and posted that it had been mailed. Everyone knew where the tool was in the system.
Is it foolproof? No. But it might be a start. First a set of parts would first have to sourced.

I had mine repaired under CPO (2007 GT3). Fitting popped out of the case. No argument from Porsche NA. They paid for it and they said they will cover it until the end of my CPO. Porsche won't pay for a real fix unfortunately. Porsche also told me I cannot run Water Wetter. How dangerous is this, I live in South Florida FGS. I have started to warn my students to not follow the Turbos and GT3s too closely and really pay attention to the cars in front of us. Bimmer guy at Homestead this weekend forgot the gas cap and there was gas flying everywhere! When my CPO is done at the end of this year, Orbit Racing will drop the motor and weld in the fittings per Cup car specs. I'll probably add a few improvements while the engine is down.

This is the setup Orbit Racing uses on their racing cars. When I have it done later in the year I will try to post some pictures. You mean to tell me the cup car fittings are also glued in with dissimilar metals? (i.e. different coefficient of thermal expansion under high pressure)

To get back to the original spirit of the thread..(do this preemptively), I would love to but my car has a Porsche CPO. If I touch anything on the motor I risk Porsche NA voiding my warranty. The dealer where I bought the car already told me not to modify the exhaust until my CPO is over. Then if I have a problem with my RMS I have to have another fight? It would be nice if there was a Porsche supported fix like there is for the IMS problem. I wouldn't go crazy about paying for the fix myself if I could still have my CPO. It's not an ideal situation but what can you do.
