What if they only offered to re-epoxy them? Are there any aftermarket solutions?

Congratulations Alex, glad it worked out.

Problem with re-epoxying them is, who knows if it'll work, or how long it will last. Heck, I'm pretty sure that even Porsche thought that it was a good idea back in 2004.

As Mike said above, I'm not so sure that the OPC has much of a clue on this. Which dealership did you get it from?

Alex, if it's a dealer, most likely they will only re-epoxy them. I've heard of one guy who tracks alot and the dealer has re-epoxied a fitting three times. Which is terrible considering the possibility for damage to others. Porsche is wrong with this issue, they really should step up, but not likely. However the car is certainly worth the "extra" cost of ownership if you plan on tracking it. Just my .02. You will love it on the track.

Will be doing the hose fix this summer, in the meantime thinking of switching to water and water wetter. Are there any down sides to this if car is used as weekend toy and sits in traffic? Excuse ignorance.

There are other chemicals in antifreeze besides ethylene glycol which provide lubrication and rust inhibition. These are supposedly in water wetter. I'm not aware of any down side.

Water Wetter does Not offer anti- corrosives. It's not the answer- fix those fittings

Reduces or eliminates bubbles or vapor barrier that form on hot metal surfaces to reduce coolant temperatures by up to 20°
Superior heat transfer properties compared to glycol-based antifreeze
Compatible with new or used antifreeze (including DEX-COOL and long-life versions) to improve the heat transfer of ethylene and propylene glycol systems
Improves heat transfer and reduces cylinder head temperature
Designed for use with all modern aluminum, cast iron, copper, brass and bronze cooling systems
Cleans and lubricates water pump seals
Reduces cavitation and complexes with hard water to reduce scaling
Does not lower cooling system below the thermostatically-controlled temperature

I have quotes from Motor Werks in Barrington (dealer) and Euroquipe in St. Charles. Both would outsource the welding. I haven't decided which way to go yet.

Cheers.

Default Hose part numbers

I'll be getting my coolant lines welded and will be replacing the hoses as preventative maintenance. I wanted to order these ahead of time before the engine is dropped. Did a search but wanted to confirm that these are the correct part #s.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I am with a law firm that is looking into reports of catastrophic coolant leakage in Porsche 911s, similar to what you have been discussing. If you have experienced this issue or are interested in the investigation, please feel free to email me at emo@girardgibbs.com, or give me a call at (866) 981-4800. You can also visit our website http://www.girardgibbs.com/porsche91...investigation/.

Thanks,
Ellen

I've been contacted. Porsche would have been smarter to just admit they had an issue. They knew it.
worst possible public relations move. I want 22 hours of labor charges back from them.

Mirage International in San Diego, CA as well as Vision Motorsports in Orange County, CA both do an excellent job in welding these!
