So far the plan is to increase displacement through bore only. The crankshaft will be reworked but we don't anticipate changing the stroke.

We will be replacing the lifters, timing chains, gaskets, bearings, seals, some fasteners, etc, as needed. The Achilles heel coolant manifolds will get the fittings welded on. Coolant hoses and expansion tank replaced. The list goes on. The parts alone won't be cheap. Removing the engine and performing all the dis-assembly myself is a huge cost saver though.

The tune will be fairly conservative and the redline will be set not much higher than stock. We are not going to achieve 500hp. 115hp/liter is what's expected.

Suspension will be addressed later on as the project progresses. One step at a time. The current focus is drivetrain.

New LSD internals from Guard are planned. We'll remove the LSD as soon as we get the case off the engine stand.

Wow, I didn't realize the 997.2 flywheel was even lighter. That's something to be considered.

As a side note, looks like I've been banned on 6speed for posting this there. While obviously I'm giving credit to the shop that's making it happen, the intent of this thread is to be education and document the build of my personal car.

Nice build. You're in good hands. Ron does top notch work.

Though I do agree with 996FLT6 that you should address 3rd, 4th and 5th gear while you are in there. Be sure to call before packing up and shipping an LSD my way. We've managed to sell rebuilds faster than we can make discs again. It's just gotten stupid. I've done as many rebuilds in the first quarter of this year as we did in the second half of last year. I blame Mikymu!!!

As a side note and out of respect for the paying sponsors here in Rennlist please remove all advertizing logos and stamps from the photographs and keep on posting this beautiful project otherwise this thread might not make it all the way..

Removed the shop banner at the top of the thread, John. Hope it's ok to leave the photos stamped as they're property of the shop.

I know I'm in good hands!

We will most likely just order the rebuild parts for the LSD and do it inhouse. You got me seriously thinking about gears though. New 3, 4, 5 and drop existing 5 into 6. Maybe.
