Default Going to the 'ring...

will be there on Sept 10 and 11...trying to rent a 996 gt3 but its not available anymore...new models are a bit over the budget so might end up renting M3s...unless you guys have any other places to suggest that rent cars for the ring? (tried RSR and Rentaracecar already)

anybody from the board that will be there at the same time?

Yes finding the Ring kind of empty for a clean lap is like hitting the jack pot especially on open days.
The rent companies he mentioned are good as another 2-3 of them, finding the car you want on the day you want requires planning, it has become so popular that their booked weeks before.

If you can find a clio cup go ahead and make your first laps with it. It’s a nice way to learn the track and the car is much fun with oversteer attitude and easy to drive. Its brembo brakes are awesome.
M3 is nice too but unless it has changed brakes you ll fry them in two laps if you push.

M3 brakes suck! I dint know why BMW does that on every car! I drove an m6 on the ring and it was too heavy for it's own brakes. I would have to come in every 10 min to let the brakes cool, yes that's about 1 lap!

Suzuki Swift stage 2 from rent4ring seems to be popular. Full cage and 2500 euro deductible (or whatever you call it, what you have to pay yourself if you crash). Not sure there'll be any left for 10-11 Sep though.

you *could* if you were prepared to take the risk rent a car from one of the rental car companies ...

some people on the RL have done this before (recently) without (so far) any issues despite the fact that it is "verboten" ...

have you been there before?

I believe the 135i has some nice six pots on it ... the best brakes of all the BMWs although I wonder about the new M3 GTS ...

I took my 535ix Sport Wagon on the ring a couple of years ago when I did euro delivery ... while the brakes never actually failed the amount of pad build was amazing ... towards the end of 3 days it was like sitting in a tumble dryer every time you braked ... and as for the run flat tires ... well ...

The E9x M3 had exactly the same problems with pad buildup as well ...

I'll be at the Ring on the 10th as well. May stay around for the 11th.

We're renting Sciroccos from Rent Racecar.

Have you tried rent2Drive.de?
http://www.hausmarvin.de/rent2drive/preise.php

They have E36 &E46 M3 racecars. 996 GT3 also listed on the website. I rent from them early Aug. David and Diana are very nice to deal with. If you pay cash...then....

If you are inexperienced at this circuit then the car doesn't matter as long as it is in good working order.
