Default Another PCCB question: I've read none of the 996 GT3s came with gen II PCCBs.....

but, many people swapped over to the gen II PCCBs.

I bought my car used, how do I know which rotors I have?

Thanks.

The Gen II PCCB has a different weave, and hole pattern then the Gen I PCCB. To my understanding the 2005 996 GT3 has Gen II.

Don't hold me to it so you'll have to check into it but what I understand is that Gen 1 was NOT offered on the 996GT3 (ie, 04 and the few left over that were sold as 05's). However, there are some that have Gen 2 on them after a warranty claim fitted them.

Yeah, I am w/ Dell.. I think none of the 6GT3 comes w/ Gen II.. would be nice, though, since I have a '05!

That's what I thought. What I'm wondering is, what identifying features are on the rotors to determine whether or not they are gen I or II?

As the second owner, I'm not sure.

Part number etched on the hat will identify the generation. I don't have them off hand though sorry.

996.351.031.92 Left Gen I
996.351.031.93 Left Gen II
996.351.032.92 Right Gen I
996.351.032.93 Right Gen II

No 996 GT3 came with GENII. I did put them on the front. My GENI lasted about 25,000 miles. I sold my car at about 61,000 miles and the GEN II were smooth as glass. The rears were original and like new

No 996 GT3 came with GENII.
Yep, I know. Just trying to figure out if the previous owner put them on. I'll have to check my part numbers.

Mine have 39,000 miles on them and are PERFECT. I'm crossing my fingers that they are the Gen IIs he put on.

If I have GenI's, I'm wearing a brown bag over my head at Blackhawk out of pure embarrassment.

AND...............I'm going to bunch my panties up, throw them on the ground, have a tantrum and write someone a strong worded letter about my disappointment and concern for my safety

The 2004 and 2005 996 GT3 PCCB System is the same. We never got an answer why the Porsche parts listing has the 996.351.031.93 as 2005 rather than 2004 and up. Maybe it was some warranty replacement thing only for the model year 2005 996 GT3?

roberga, do your Generation II PCCB have the Generation I hole pattern or the 997 PCCB pattern?

I did the same research when I bought my car

The *only* person I found who swapped to gen ii was roberga who has already chimed in

so I don't know who the other folks are but most don't since steel is cheaper

That's what I ended up doing too

I'm looking at a car that has PCCBs with the drilled pattern with fewer holes like the right pic. Is it Gen I or II?

Thanks!
