Tie Downs on 6GT3 for trailering.
 

As subject states.. I'm looking to see what types of anchoring points those of you with 6GT3's use to tie your car down when trailering. I do have the straps to run thought the wheel but was never rally a fan of that in my Koni. I had some tie downs however on the chassis on my old 993 that I preferred? So I'm looking for something like that set-up..

What are you using?

I'm using the Rennline rear chassis tie downs and am planning on making my own front tie downs. Even with the rennline GT3-specific rear tie down, I use the bent wire-type of strap, not the twisted hook. The twisted hook on the strap is uncomfortably close to the oil line. I use twisted hooks everywhere else (wheel straps up front for now).

Rennline also sells a front tow tie down part that bolts to the front rocker jack point, but that jack point part is only spot welded in 3 or 4 places to the frame. Hardly what I'd call strong. My mechanic has seen many cars with torn jack pads when overzealous tow truck guys use them.

Is that Rennline's 66 or 90 degree bracket?

I use this type for the rear Rennline chassis tie down by the oil tank (gives a bit more clearance):

They look like mine....66 degree version. Still gotta be careful around that oil line though.

I go thru the wheels... with mac custom tie downs, very nice thru the wheel straps they come with additional padding to place over the straps, no wheel damage. Never any probs, straps stay tight, no movement no worry. Any reason not to do it this way? Curious....

Looked on the Rennline website and it stated 66 is what is recommended for the GT3.

I ordered the rear Chassis hooks and the straight front ones. (tie to the suspension).

The way my trailer has the straps I cannot cross them and tie to the wheels in the rear. I always liked it better going to the chassis as I had it on my 993.

Front is too hard to get to with my trailer as i have a large stone guard, so it is easier to tie to the car using fixed length straps.

Joe, those are the 66's I had put on the car. I ran the tie down "hooks" in the rear and through the front wheels in the front.

p.s. does the LVDell speed yellow special have a horn still on the car? Thinking about adding a button to work the horn but do not know if she has a horn.

^^ When I got my car it had a Cup Wheel on it and PJ had the horn wired to a button on the dash/center console (below the wiper control). It was a real Porsche button for a spoiler... Just an idea if you have the quick release wheel.
