Default 996 Cup Car ECU

I seem to potentially have acquired an ECU from a 2005/06 Porsche 996 Cup that raced in the Britcar championship and am reliably told that its a simple swap for the ECU on my 996GT3RS should I want to...

Not knowing enough about the differences between the road cars ECU and a Cup Cars ECU I'm curious as to what advantage this would have (if any) over the standard ECU the car is running or what damage I would do by fitting it and then running the car on the road.

I know there are a few racers here that could hopefully shed some light on this, I'd appreciate the input.

Cheers

If it's real, it's set up for the capabilities of a cup motor, not your RS version. It may well run it, but I can't imagine it would be an optimal setup for your car. I would send it to Porsche and have them verify it and give you the history via it's serial number. It's a valuable ECU if authenticated by Porsche...

To use the ECU you will need the wiring harness also. Also if it is 05/06 it should be from a 997, which for sure has a map that won't work, but Motorsport could load a proper map for you.
