2200 is the same as 2.2 and fits right between the 1.8 and 2.8 that have been discussed

If the resistor should be between 1.8 ohms and 2.2 ohms, then Turbocup87's solution won't work; he is showing 2,200 ohms (or 2000 times a high a resistance). I think the correct value range is indeed 1.8 ohms to 2.2 ohms.

I can't believe it...LVDell is actually wrong...the end is near....Dell that would only be correct if you were talking kilo-ohms then 2.2 would be 2,200 ohms..but I believe you were talking ohms not kilo-ohms...

I honestly thought (as did we all) that it was (according to Gert) at 2.8K ohm resistor not 2.8 sans K.

ok, if it is in fact 2.8k ohms then it is 2,800 ohms and the 2,200 is probably close enough...all the earlier posts I saw did not include the k and people were discussing 1.8 and 2.8 ohms not kilo-ohms, which does seem like an odd value...unfortunately there is a significant difference in the two...have an email into Gert to confirm...I think it has to be kilo-ohms because at 12v or 5v to ground the 2.2 ohm resistor would burn up since current draw/power would greatly exceed the 1/2 watt rating...so Dell would be right and everything is fine with the universe...if it's low impedence then the circuit does not go to ground...

Here you go! Resistor Color Codes I was tooling around with this for the steering airbag and seat airbag in my Suzuki Swift. Guess the same resistor could be used in any car as I suspect that cars irrespective of make use very similar airbags and that this resistor would work even in a Porsche.

that's a 3 ohm 1% resistor....orange, black, black, silver, brown...so it looks like low impedence is the way to go...thanks...

But pls note that TurboCup87's photo shows a 2.2K ohm resistor -- apparently we need a 2.2 ohm resistor.

Whoever is building these devices, PLS KEEP US ALL INFORMED.

AND AN ISSUE: What about those of us who use the stock steering wheel. Do we have to remove the wheel each time we want to cutoff the airbag and again when we re-enable it?

And How Do You Remove The Stock Steering Wheel???

you do not have to remove the wheel to remove the airbag...removing the airbag is quite easy but it would be nice to have the resistor/jumper plug to avoid any lights....this pdf is for a boxter but will give you a clear idea of how to remove the airbag...

Got it! Had the state inspection today and had the air bag warning light reset. Got home and took off the SRS wheel and installed the new 3 ohm circuit. After reconnecting the battery and starting the car, NO air bag failure warning or air bag light!
