Default OZ Superleggera III

What do you guys think of these?

OZ Superleggera III. Almost 1/2 the price of BBS E88s and about $1300 less than a set of Fikses.

They'll be a track only wheel.

Experience good or bad?

Chris, Those are the wheels Louise and I used on our 996 GT3s. No issues with them. Light and strong. Spares available from Nic Touchette. We are using Fikse on the 997's because Nic had (has?) a group buy on Fikse at very attractive prices. The OZ are also used by Marty Robinson, Ron Green etc. Two years ago I'd say there were about ten cars in Red using them.

Best,

- another choice for track wheels from the same site (tirerack) would be the volk te37s
- they are 7#s lighter per wheel (18# front, 20# rear) = #28 total weight saving

- also they are way cheaper (total price for $2596, fronts are $629 each, rears are $669 each) versus the superlegga 3s (total = $3776, fronts $922, rears $966) = $1180 savings = the price of 4 Hoosiers

- my choice would be a lighter wheel with a "free" set of Hoosier R6s

Difference for me is $800 per set b/w the Volks and the OZs. I have a good 'source'.

How durable are the Volks?

Best,
Does Louise still have the set that was on her car???

I liked them when I saw them on your car (now Andrei's), Louise's, Ron's, Marty's etc. Glad to hear no issues and that they were durable.

I'm leaning towards the polished silver ones.

Canuck -

I am OZ's North American importer and the wheels are built here.

Forged centers, spun inner and outers, titanium bolts available. Fairly lightweight and completely repairable. I have available in all Porsche fitments in 18 and 19"

Feel free to call me if you have any questions.

IIRC the OEM rims are 25# and 27# for rear, same weight as OZ wheels?

You guys stock the parts?

Are the wheels listed on the TR website with Titanium bolts etc?

Check the weights posted here. Mine were 21 lbs F and 22 lbs R. The wheels were sold with Louise' white GT3 to another Rennsport guy, Brian Mahoney who will be using it with us this season. He was driving a 40th anniversary 996 before. I am happy that both Adrei and Brian will be driving those cars with us.

Robert Pronovost has TE37 on is black GT3 and he seemed pretty pleased with them when I asked him. Did you inquire about Kodiak wheels?

No issues with the OZs that came with Bob's car.
I am also a bit puzzled by the 27 lbs weight indicated on the Tirerack website. For an 18" wheel that is no "Superleggera" at all. That's what cast wheels in that size weigh.
