996 RS Wing from Porsche Motorsport
I have been looking around and seems like $3,300 (plus around $125 shipping) is the best price I have found for a genuine Porsche Motorsport RS Wing. Is this price in line or does anyone know a vendor with a price lower than $3,000?
From previous posts seems like you can get a similar non-Porsche look-a-like RS wing for a fraction of the cost, but I would like to stay with the original one.
Any thoughts would be appreciated because I am getting ready to pull the trigger.
BTW, does anyone have the part number?

I was fortunate enough to find a forum member that had a new factory wing and was willing to part with it for less than $3K..search threads for recent talk about non-factory wings...

Dang, the first one I bought was $1975 (Porsche dealer special), the second one was $2100 (viperbob), and this last one was $2200 (viperbob, again, I think).

$3K+ doesn't sound right. TRG, ViperBob and others sell them new in the low to mid 2K's. Before I bought mine I checked with Sunset Porsche and they quoted me something like $2600.
Shoot Viper Bob a PM and see what he has.

Are you looking for the 996 Cup, R, RS racing car wings?
If not, do a search as we have provided sources and part number for the 996 GT3 RS street car's carbon fiber wing. It is not a Porsche Motorsport part.

Ok. I thought the 996 GT3 RS Wing was the same as the Porsche Motorsport. So, I may be getting quotes for two different parts? I am looking for the 996 GT3 RS Street -- I just want to take off my Wing and put on the new Carbon Fibre blade on top of the existing supports.
So, what is the difference between the Street vs Motorsport Wing?
By the way Sunset quoted me $4,052 a few months ago for this description: 996 GT3 RS carbon rear wing.
So now I am confused..

This is helpful. So, it looks like I should be spending anywhere from $2,300- $2,600 from the Street RS CF Wing that will install directly with my existing supports. I will be able to use the 4 and 8 degree sims. I am guessing the $4,000+ is for the Motorsport RS CF Wing. Please provide the part number for the Street RS CF Wing. i want to make sure I purchase the right one.
Also, I still don't know the difference between the Street RS CF Wing the the Motorsport RS CF Wing. A description and a picture would be great.

It's NOT a PMNA wing. Sunset cannot sell Motorsports parts. You were probably quoted wing AND decklid?
The RS CF wing is the one we all have. It is NOT a motorsports part. The PMNA wing that most refer to is the one you see on the Cups. Not sure of the material on it (CF decklid and aluminum wing maybe?).

jonysan provided the correct number. Yes this one fits on the deck lid uprights just like the stock one. Do a shop and compare to see what the going rate is from a Porsche dealership. Most dealers won't discount that part a lot because their profit margin is lower on the carbon fiber parts.
street model 996 GT3 RS wing assembly, 996.512.959.94
Besides cost, the only issue with the factory wing is getting one without side plate damage. The side plates are fragile and don't do well in shipping unless the assembly is packaged really well. A benefit of picking up the wing in person from a Porsche dealership, is that you can inspect it together, then if there is any damage, it wasn't your fault.

Good tip about the shipping. I called Sunset and confirmed the price. The price for the RS CF Wing is $4052.07!!! They said the price probably went up. I specifically asked for only the Wing and he repeated the $4K price tag. So, at least I have the correct part #, but I am not going to pay $4K for the Wing.

Contact TRG or viperbob on this. Quick futzing with the dealers. If either of them give you a price like that, so be it. Also, it's my understanding that this part is getting to be fairly hard to get.
