Latest Excellence Magazine

There is a cool article written by Johannes Van Overbeek in which he compares the 7RSR Flying Lizard car to the 7RS street car.

Following that article there was an opinion piece written about the 7Rs by one of the magazine employees. It seems as though he was impressed with the car's performance while at the same time slightly bored. This sentence summed it up best: "What's missing is a little soul and a lot of sweetness, two things the far-from-flawless 996 GT3 had in spades"

The Nov issue with the 997GT3 on front? If so, what page???

Mark Dreyer 11-01-2007 12:44 PM

December issue. It was in my mail yesterday.

Thanks Mark! I'm off to my post office.

Do they hit stores before you get it in the mail? I always thought that but didn't see it at Barnes & nobles yesterday :/

I always get mine before they hit stores. That's the beauty of being a subscriber.

Mark, I love the quote.

Mark,

Pete Stout is more than an employee; he is the editor of Excellence Magazine. I’ve seen him a few times on this board. He’s a lot like us except that he writes better. I’m always interested in what he has to say because he’s driven and tested a lot of relevant Porsches. It would be fun if he interacted with this thread because I’d like to hear more. Anyway it is a nice piece about both the new and the previous GT3s.

Hank

That's why I renew 3 years at a time! If I had to rely on myself to go buy an issue I would never get to read it :banghead:

Gt3

Honestly,in terms of driving feel, my previous 996 GT3 was the most visceral car I've ever driven. It obviously just did not not have the torque of my current GT2. However, I need to be going quite a bit faster to generate the same "sweetness" in my 2.

In the same issue of Excellence, there is an article on a modded GT3. The owner turbo charged it....which I suppose technically makes it a GT2 right?

Pretty darn close! Except for the whole fat ass :)

Thought that article was one of the better articles I have seen in Excellence. Awesome to have a GT3 vs RSR comparison.

The RSR is clearly a beast (But I love the 996 GT3!)

Hey Hank!

Happy to elaborate if you've got questions. I wouldn't be surprised if you do, as that sidebar was one of the hardest things I've had to write.

And I'm still not sure I fully conveyed what I wanted to...

Cheers,

pete
