Default 996 gt3 vs 964 3.6t

Anyone owned or have much seat time in both cars? Interested in stock to stock comparisons. I have driven highly modded 964, 993 and 997 gt3 but not stock 3.6t or stock 996 gt3.
But even then, my time is limited except the highly modded car. Would appreciate any comparisons. thanks

my friend has a 3.6 turbo s flachbau. we were chasing each other around tbis past weekend. I have a gt3. the gear ratios in the gt3 are amazing. 3rd gear does not let go !.in boost, we kept a nice pace together. we did not have an opportunity to do 0-60, 0-100. would be interesting to see if the turbo
could keep pace....I suspect it would be close, but we know who can outhandle...

You can't go wrong with either one. A 3.6T would be one of the couple of Porsches I would seriously consider selling the GT3 for (Besides a 996GT2, or 997GT3). One that is properly set up is hard to beat. You know how I feel.

John - Dramatically different cars as to power (among other things and even though both of mine are highly modified), requiring different driving styles on the track. 3.6 boost (despite mods) really doesn't kick in until > 3,500 rpm; once it does, watch out. Key to driving fast on the track is to be in the right gear at or before the apex and being judicious with the throttle until steering is opened up/straight ahead. GT-3s are much more forgiving (besides much more modern) and don't have the dramatic changes in power and torque; the error factor is much greater.

In the end, both cars require keeping the momentum up on corner entry and are similar in that regard; however, very different as to power application between apex and track out.

I have mastered neither car on the track, and have many more hours with the GT-3. In any event, I am quite sure the GT-3 is seconds faster than the 964 turbo. Mastering the 3.6 would be more challenging though, particularly as to consistency. I have the greatest respect for the racers who drove the old 934s and 935s - they must have been an absolutely handful to drive at the limit.

Just my $0.02.

Good points thusley - it was great seeing you again at MMP on Saturday. Hopefully you had a blast on the race and cart tracks...

3.6t's are just so damn good looking.. I'd buy one as art alone!
