Default F1 at Laguna Seca

Toyota F1 team will be at Laguna Seca this Friday through Sunday for a depo. If you live in the area and have never heard an F1 engine in person, you don't know what your missing. HDTV, surround sound can't describe the sound you get in person. It doesn't mention if it is the V10 or V8 engine they will be running, but if you can, you won't regret it

As will about about 8 or 9 IMSA 935's a couple 934's and 8 or 9 911 RSR's.
They practice on Friday and Saturday and they are the featured race on Sunday.
I'll be there...

I saw one of Schuey's Ferrari F1's lap that track (his 2004 car, I think) and it was stunning!

It was awesome, wasn't it? Something about the natural bowl shape at Laguna really enhances the F1 soundtrack. I've been to a number of F1 races and only Monaco compares.

I've never been to Monaco for the F1 race. Been to Indy 3 times and once to Montreal. It was definitely louder at Indy due to the reverb off the metal bleachers versus the openness of being in the middle of the St. Lawrence River. I can only imagine how loud it is in Monaco with all the buildings surrounding the track.

The reason why I mentioned the unknown (V10 vs. V8) is because I went through the Indy Pit walk through this past July and while the teams were firing up their engines (at low RPM's of course) the V8 had a lower growl that the V10 which surprised me. I expected the opposite.

At full song, once again the V10 Cosworth Engines were more pleasant to the ear than the rest of the V8 field. Even with the V8's at 20,000 RPM and the V10 Cosworth restricted to 16,300, the V10 just shreeked. That 3.0 ltr. V10 is one of the most glorious sounds I've ever heard. I wish I could get the ring tone on my Verizon Razor phone.

Do you have Verizon Wireless, because I've checked various websites for it, but there's no match for the Verizon Razor, I believe Singular has it.

I agree but there's still something better... Ferrari V12 F1 engine, oh boy!

P.S. Trulli was in downtown Helsinki last week, drove the Toyota F1 there for little under 10 min. I heard there was ~ 50k people watching and the sound between the building was (of course) awesome!

I was thinking about that as I've never heard an F1 V12 in person and wondering what that must sound like.

Anyone get to go out to LS this past weekend? I didn't, but read that Zonta in the Toyota F1 car pulled a 1:06 track record

Nicky Hayden the current (but slowly fading) American MotoGP Championship Points Leader was in the 1:24 - 1:26 range a few weeks back as the winner of that race!!!

How unreal would it be to be in a two seater F1 car going around that track and into the corkscrew?

I was there and it's true, 1:06 and that sound will be with me for a while. (By the way, the 550 Spyders kicked *** in the vintage race).
